Bangin Chains for Brains - August 24 - DEER LICK PARK

Postby Donna » Wed May 22, 2013 10:15 am

Disc Golf Charity Event to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association at Deer Lick Park on August 24. Two non sanctioned events are scheduled, the first starting at 8:00 AM and the second starting at 2:00 PM. Fees are $20.00 for one event or $35.00 for both. 100% of all funds collected go to the Alzheimer's Association.
Prizes will be awarded for CTP, winning teams, longest drive, etc.
Alzheimer's is the only leading cause of death in the United States that is growing in numbers. Research has escalated greatly in the last few years and hopefully it wont be too long before they find a cure for this tragic disease.

Here are some more event specifics:

Cost is $20 per round or both rounds for $35.

First round will start at 10:00 am following a brief players meeting.
Second round will be at 2:00 or an hour after the last card is turned in.

Divisions to be determined by turnout as well as participants.

The option to just play one round is mainly for participants who want to help out the cause and may not be hardcore tournament players.

Bangin' Chains for Brains is going to be a fun way to help raise money for Alzheimers research and treatment. Let's show some support for this effort and
help make it a success.

Getting the course ready for this worthwhile event. The baskets are in the short position. Two new cement tee pads have been poured. Trimmed some trees. And picked up the trash. The course is looking great. Everyone come out and support a good cause.

Are these both singles events? And is there any online signup, or will it just be "day-of"?

It will be day of sign up. I am fielding the idea of two rounds of doubles to make it a fun day and not a tourney environment. Any other input?

Tournament central will be at the pavilion by old hole 1/new 12. Pizza is being brought in for lunch (not free), so this will be a better place to sit and eat. There will be a basket raffle for a new Skillshot:$1 per chance or 7 for $5. Hope to see a lot of folks show up to support this cause.

If anyone would like to bring schwag for CTP's that would be great. I'm donating the basket and a few other discs. The lady running this has some very nice stuff for prizes as well i.e. tickets (not sure if Braves or Falcons), food coupons, some kinda night vision camera(she'll have to explain), and much more cool stuff. This is going to be a lot of fun.
