I was going with the basket thing anyway this year as I did last year. Question for everyone: If I up the player's packs, there will be more money taken out from the payout. Bonus is everyone gets something nice. Drawback is payout will be less. Which would you prefer?

To me the player packs are kinda hit or miss. The trick with the player pack would be to make sure that it IS sweet. Of course that may involve polling the players, which is likely annoying and certainly extra work. I'd rather receive a larger payout, or have a lower entry fee, than be given a players pack that has some random DG gear that I might like, or might not like.

How do the different santioning levels affect the players/the tournament, other than the points?

By the time this event rolls around Lance...you should be in the open division(no players pack). Your average tournament round rating is 981.6 which isnt really indicative of an advanced player. If your rating shakes out that way you would be the highest rated AM player in the state with your friends Mark and Chris right on your heels. Really enjoyed playing with you sir and look forward to seeing you at upcoming tournements but I hear the open division calling your name.

I would rather see a bigger pay out. Players packs usually consist of a disc Im never going to throw. I did like the DVD for the AO and loved the dry fit shirt from the 2010 AO however.

T Shirts, especially the dri-fit are nice. I allways felt though that the winners of each division shouldn't receive the basket though...aren't they good enough? Shouldn't the practice basket go to the overall loser in each division so that we encourage better golf?

Sweet Player Pack and lower payout - T-Shirt, Tourney Disc (Zephyr), Teva Flip Flops, Chapstick, Pack of Matches, Tic Tacs, Temporary Tattoos. Also have a deadline that the Pro's can sign up so more AM's can get in to fill the event.

You know you can go to Worlds without the invite on points. Just have to wait and sign up after a certain date. I don't think Worlds has ever filled up.

Yeah, but being in charlotte, I feel this is gonna be a big year, might be first to fill, maybe, maybe not. Either way, if I rack up on the points I wont have to worry about it

I'm apparently in the minority in this thread, but I prefer lower value player packs and higher payouts for AM divisions. Especially if the payout is being handled by a retailer who has a flexibility in paying out beyond what's on site that day.

$60 - All Pro divisions
$40 - All Advanced divisions and Intermediate
$10 dollars extra if you are not a current PDGA member

Everyone will play from the same tees. There will be no special course set up for anyone who can't compete on the regular layout. There will be no Juniors or non-Pro Ladies division unless enough people (3 or more) sign up. If you do, please sign up in the next division that you would play (probably Int.) and put in the special message section of the online signup that you would prefer to play Junior or Ladies.

We had a little hiccup with the CFR stamp. Seems Discraft was a little apprehensive using a direct rip off of an Innova Proto stamp. I guess I don't blame them. The new stamp is courtesy of "Two Disc Dan" O'Reilly and looks killer! Once again, Crystal Z Buzzz's but this time with a chorus line of aliens doing a leg kick, wearing loin cloths, and sporting ray guns. Dan forgot the pierced nipples on each one, but I'll let that slide! Get those entries in asap and don't forget to buy a CFR disc when they come in in a couple of weeks!

BTW, the course looks great! Thank you Darren and Merritt! 16 is completely different with no mound at all in front of the tee. 8 has an extended tee pad. Player's list is updated and we're sitting at 37 players so far! Panda frown! Only two more weeks until online registration shuts down. I have schwag from Discraft and supposedly from Mikey D, as well as the normal added cash to all divisions. I'll never hate on a free ctp, but can we get it on ANY other hole? Not only is 4 the most "flukey" when it comes to OB, but most pros play it down the right fairway (like any smart golfer would.) It will probably end being won by an invalid shot hitting a tree in the left gap and kicking to the basket. All the legit shots down the left with enough gas to make it over the first leg of the creek will just carry over the green.

Why put the greatest one shot reward for the most skilled division on the hole with the biggest luck factor?

Dollar,

Hole 4 is actually a nice straight Roc shot down the creek to the green.

There has been a ton of work done out here and the course looks really good.

Do not know when you were out there last, but from hole 4's teepad you can see the basket.

Last 3 times I have played out there, I have parked hole 4 with a Roc.

The real danger is going long and ending up in the creek behind it, The righthand side is actually
kind of tight. If you end up left of the creek it has been cleared so there is a shot to the green now.

Wish I could play this weekend, but it is my oldest son's homecoming game.

I may make a trip out there Saturday afternoon and take some pics.

Sweet, sounds cool. I only venture out there for PPIC, so haven't seen it since last year. I'm looking forward to The 'Lick. Is 16 going to be the short or long pin? I'm hoping short since there is a big spiffy new tee, making it easier to really crush one and maybe get a 2!

16 has only had one position (long)except when Juniors and Recs played. 16 will be long and you won't believe how different the hole looks.

Keith put the Hole 16 basket in a PVC sleeve in a hole I dug in the ground on the hill where the spaceship goes :mrgreen:

- Greg has ALWAYS used the original ond only galvinized sleeve I know of on 16 for all the Events he has run.

heads up to everyone on here. if your thinking of playing some good golf this weekend there is a couple good tournaments going on this weekend. both are neighboring states to georgia. Trussville on sunday which instead of getting off at the fairburn exit in doug ville keep heading west to birmingham Al is a premier course in Al, one of my favorites. there is also the state championship in SC. now i havent quit this course before but have heard nothing but good things about it.

Promoting other tournaments in Greg's tourney thread doesn't seem kosher. Even though the Gwinnett County Open is on a different weekend, I wouldn't come in here promoting the Gwinnett County Open in a thread that is about the PPIC and not the Gwinnett County Open (November 12th. see GwinnettCountyOpen.com for details)

As a former PPIC winner and long-time ATl golfer, you should have some respect for those who've earned it. Grease deserves better.

I'm really enjoying my first tournament at the PPIC. I just wish I had known about that rule that the newbie has to tote everyone's bag in his group. Those things get heavy after about 8 holes.

I'll second everything that Chop said, Greg -- except for the "beamed up and probed" part. I'm guessing he failed to read the fine print during the tournament sign up about the terms and conditions of the "entry" fee...

And congrats to Craig for a big win on a challenging course against some solid players. Perhaps he was channelling "redhead with braces" the entire weekend for some extra mojo.

I just adjusted the par for the course and round ratings were changed accordingly. I had par set at 54 instead of 56. My bad! Everyone just got bonus rating points! Party at Sweeney's place!
