I'm buying up a few basket lights and players are responsible for the lighting of their discs (glow discs don't really do too well since there is a bit of light from the other park buildings)

Glow golf options:
Disc LED light options
1. http://www.theledlight.com/inova-microlight.html (costly, but easy to get golfing first)
2. http://www.nightdiscgolf.com/disc_lights.html (items can be bought at Radio Shack for less cost)
3. http://www.flashflight.com/holeinone/index.shtml (downside: you have to drill a hole in your disc

)
4. http://www.blackjaxsports.com/PRODUCTS/Light_PODS/AeroPOD.html (looks like you have to drill this one too)
5. http://www.everythingdiscgolf.com/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=33 (LED are in the disc!! never tried these though)

Basket Light options

Time change in a week.

Weather seems to be getting cooler.

1st Thursday after time switches = Glow Golf

singles or dubs ? We can decide on a weekly basis, but feel free to give suggestions. :idea:

Which of those glow options do you personally endorse? The LEDs with battery look like the best bet, is that what you use? I ask these questions because like last winter I would like to play some, but unlike last winter I am actually going to do it this time.

Glow golf will start on Thursday the 11th, next week.

As for a start time, I'm thinking we show up around 6 and go from there.

Maybe start at 6:30 or so.

I've been asked to pass this information along from Gwinnett County Parks and Rec: It is illegal to be in the park after dark, and the police will start enforcing this rule more often this fall/winter.

I know that's the only time to play Glow Golf, and I'm really trying to negotiate some way around this. But for the meantime, just keep that in mind.

We may have to skip glow golf this week.
Vicky is trying to get us permission/permits to play. It may take some time, so we'll just wait.

Couldn't find the sign(that I remember also), but talked to a fella' tonight who said when he called the Park today, they said it was open til 11:00.

OTOH the rules:

Prohibited in Parks:

Littering
Weapons, shall not apply to firearms as defined by O.C.G.A. § 16-11-171(3)
Throwing objects
Annoying noises
Possession, use or consumption of alcoholic beverages

So baseball, football, disc golf are all prohibited anyways.

Thank you for your patience Josh, as we now have the go-ahead for "Lenora Glow Golf"! Discers just need to be out of the park by 11 pm.

Gwinnett County supports our playing Glow Golf (they were just following rules as interpreted) and are even writing a grant for us to do a Glow Golf Tournament soon. Fingers crossed it is accepted, but please remember Big Wheels Turn Slowly.

What exactly are the rules?

The signs and website don't post exceptions, it would be nice to know...not that I will probably ever be in the park that late...but you never know.

Example:

You may be in the park until 11pm if:

Engaged in some kind of sporting activity

You must leave at sundown if:

You are hiding in the bushes making out

I hope lots of folks show up, it'd be sweet to see tons of discs flying through the air.
Be sure to bring some cold weather gear, towels, hand warmers, etc. Also, might want to waterproof your shoes or wear boots that are waterproof. Sometimes the grass is a bit damp.

You can even do both sides of a disc if it's not champion...remember to take off the tape/glow after you are done.
Leaving it on overnight will cause a permanent stain

Target carries a Duracell led keychain that the outer body can be temoved, then taped to the disc. The best bet is to order some online and in the meantime, use glow discs with a bright flashlight.

I don't think I'll be attending this week. I have a respiratory infection that is highly contagious along with a constant 102* (and higher) temp. I've lost 14 pounds in 2 days (not eating). I have meds, steroids, and script cough syrup to help me get better (of course its all prescribed by a doctor

)
