3.24.10:

21 show, 16 in on CTPs, 13 in on action, 7 in bonus action, finished with 15 minutes of daylight to spare -- great start! Perfect weather with mid-70's & sunny. Park was packed with people. All but one of the trees that were supposed to be moved have been so the course is minimally impacted (14 long is, but 14 short is better if anything). 5 long has small trees on the fairway but the air lane is still clear.

J Drage - 54
Kade/Brian Benton - 55
Millay/Ritger - 56
Henley - 57

I'm not doing detailed stats this year, don't have time. Or maybe I will later but not now. Will be tracking everything on www.discgolfscene.com.

Spring Forward Festival @ Perkerson is this Saturday -- be there -- if you don't know what i'm talking about check the Q&A thread

Did a guy come out who was in town for the Dogwood festival?

He called PDGA and Itold him about the Dubs there and he said he would try and come by and donate some of his artwork to help raise funds for "theP" since that's what he does as he travels around the country to festivals.

I am interested in playing at Perkerson. Can I come an play for just one Wednesday, or do I have to join the whole league? My work schedule is such that that wouldn't be possible for me.

If I can't play on Wednesday, is there any other time I could play the course?

Thanks for any info :D

Play whenever Wednesday you can - don't have to join "league".

It's only set up on WED since it is a temp course during DST - during winter usually once a month - look in the Perkerson thread for all the info as John keeps it updated religously.

What Keith said. There have been 1-2 cards full of casual players every week so far. All the league stuff is optional. I am asking for a $1 fee even if you play casually as I'm trying to raise $$ for the course fund ... this will also get you entered in a handicap playoff at the end of the season if you play 8 times.

4-21-10

20 show, 14 in on the action. More than enough baskets, thank you if you brought one. Played a par 61 layout; 11 and 12 short with all others long.

Plotky - 57
Woody - 57
Kade - 60
JPZ - 60
Jason T - 60

And Josh sank his upshot on hole 9 from about 220 feet out to claim the ace/eagle fund, as well as the second-shot CTP. Scores and stats to follow (eventually).

New rule came out of Josh's eagle .... $100 cap on the payout for valid eagle only. His was very valid, #9 pushed way back in the corner ... i think that's only the 2nd 2 on that hole in 1,000+ rounds. Ace pays out full fund. So fund balance is ~$50.

4.28.10:

20+ there + one suited observer... mostly casuals ... i think ~14 casual (maybe more), 9 in on action, 5 of those in on bonus action. Perfect weather, high 60s and sunny, park not crowded. Short a few baskets so had a few large groups and played 14 short pad.

Tim aces #7 but not in on ace fund :(

Ritger wins 56 -- $49
GT Chris and M Davis T-2nd 59 -- $17.5/each
and nathan bradshaw cleans up with 3 ctps -- $21

Stats updated.

Stats sheet & discgolfscene updated

5.5.10:
9 total ... 7 show up for action with everyone ALL IN; 2 helpful casuals cleaned the baskets behind us; 13 baskets but easily managed

Another day with perfect conditions. Park crowded toward end of round around bball court. Played par 61 layout with 14 long, played long tee position on 8 (~365') ... and 4 was different b/c of picnicers around tables.

Woody kills it with a 54 (rd ratings off b/c of low turnout, should be ~1015 rated round). Plotky 3's #13 from ~300' out with a sick anhyzer flex shot to take the remaining $58 ace/eagle fund. So the fund is back to $0.

Next week 5.12.10--
I'm out of town but action is on, not sure who's running it yet, but signin 5:15, pick'em 5:25, tee off 5:30

5.12.10 and 5.19.10:

Thanks Michael for running 5/12 action -- results updated in stats sheet and on http://www.discgolfscene.com

5/19:
16 people; 8 casual & 8 competing, 3 in on bonus action. 17 baskets. Very nice weather and Sweeney pays a surprise visit. Played par 61 with #8 tee pushed straight back to about 360'; 12 short tee again; 11 shorter tee. Plotky/Woody push to playoff, not sure who won? and Me/Michael push to playoff for 3rd, but michael actually won due to math error. @ michael -- you've got $15 credit, my score was down wrong (actually 62) so you won outright.

Stats & discgolfscene.com updated. If you want your DGScene account linked to your other stats I need your email address.

5.26:
9 show with 16 baskets, 5 in action with 3 in extra. Ritger/Tokio T-1st with 55, a few @ 58/59. weather was nice -- rained a few drops but not enough to warrant an umbrella. Played par 61, same layout as last 2 weeks with long 360'ish #8. next week: Michael D is running action, same time & place.

Scores up tomorrow AM

I was just looking through the excel stats and i noticed this.

Week 6 - 4.21.10
Medium/Tough Difficulty, tees in classic or long
Weather - very nice - park xtra thuggy with our 1st breakin attempt (failed, but josh's truck damaged)

Now does extra thuggy increase your round rating?

Not at all, it actually decreases cause you may quit with 5 holes left when you are 6 down, giving you a nice 600 rated round.
I had a chance of winning 200 bucks that week. Instead, I ended up with a $ 550** bill to have my truck repaired.

6.30.10

20 people! 14 in on action. Poured before the round and I thought we'd be lucky to have 5 people ... go figure. Rain stopped and it was humid/overcast but no rain during the round. Ryan actually shot a 55, not 54, sorry W the sole winner who splits $44 with Ryan.

T 1st, 54, $22/ea Woody/Ryan Adams (actually shot 55)
T 3rd, 55, $11/ea Tokio/Kade

Excel sheet finally updated and Woody to update Discgolfscene. Ace fund is $21.

7.14.10

Hot as crap, again, but sunny this time. only 4 in action, 5 rec (incl Sam) & 3 casuals = 12 dgers. No owl or hawk. 18 baskets ... there will be 18 baskets EVERY week now as I have 18 baskets in my shed (thank you those who sold me baskets recently).

Did some pruning before the round, more of that next week ... 12, 14 & 17 had small branches hacked back.

Woody aced #8 ... playing from just in front of the long tee pad to classic long pin; ~320'. Almost silent.

1st - GT Chris -- 55
2nd - Ritger -- 57
3rd -- Woody -- 59

Next week 7.21.10 --- 5:30 pick'em

7.21.10

Good turnout today. Rained a bit before the round, ominous right before but not a drop during. Got to witness a little flash flood in the stream which is always cool. More tree grooming pre-round and the course is looking very, very groomed.

17 show, 10 in action, 3 in no-pay action, 4 casuals, 2 beggin'

Woody - 1st - 54 - $20
Ritger - 2nd - 55 - $15
Millay - 3rd - 57 - $10
3-way T-4th - 58 - Drage/Orman/Rob Case

Next week = same time, same place

7.28.10:

Another hot & sunny day. 8 show, 7 in reg action, 6 all in on xtra! 18 baskets. no casuals spotted. Nasty, opaque water had something foul flowing in it.

Drage kills the back (24) and wins the big $$ $47 with a 53
Millay in 2nd with 57 (tied with LA Andrew not in action)
Miles L in 3rd with 59

In other random news, my wife swears she saw a bum walking down moreland today wearing a black perkerson polo cutoff to show some midriff, but i can't believe her without the photo to back it up. Free disc to anybody spotting said bum with photo to back it up.

hot & sunny. 11 show, 10 in on action, no casuals spotted, 18 baskets. park was busy. excel file updated

next week: 5:30 start. 3 more weeks of qualifying for playoffs.

andrew asked what the SSA is running on the par 61 layout; i ran some stats and is about 55 based on locals averages ... probably about 56 to 56.5 for hotlanta

8.11.10

Sunny and around 95° at tee off. 11 show; 7 in regular action and 3 in bonus action. Baskets aplenty, par 61 layout.

Brett R. (also in bonus action) wins with a 57
Patrick K. and Josh tied for second with 59s

Huge thanks to Patrick and others who helped break down the baskets. That was awesome.

Interesting night in the park tonight between good sized DG crowd, hawk sighting, possible gunshots, diversity on the bball court, injured pit bull near #9 basket and nice weather. Our card started on #5 and had carded three 6's and one 3, and everyone still ended up shooting very well. Park is super groomed right now with minimal shule and fresh cut grass, should be looking great for Hotlanta.

Played same layout with #11 tee pushed long; this is my favorite spot thus far ... thoughts?

22+ show, 18 basket, 11 in on action, 2 in extra (josh vs bootsie).

Andrew/Patrick/Brad ... I dont know where your scorecard is ... didn't make it home with me.

1st -- Ritger -- 52
2nd -- Josh -- 54
3rd -- Tokio -- 56

Next week = 5:30 pick'em. Last week before playoffs begin and Hotlanta, so expecting big turnout. Time will push back gradually after next week, so pay attention to what's posted on this forum.

The following people are qualified for the playoffs:
J. Ritger, Woody, J. Drage, K. Atkinson, J. Henley, GT Chris, C. Millay, J. Plotky, B. Orman

Patrick Kellner & Andrew C have 7 rounds now, so if you play next week you also qualify. The playoff pot = all CTP $ + $ for those qualified, so should be $200+ ... the $1 fee i've been collecting from everyone else that's not in the playoffs will be a donation to the course fund.

Playoff format
Playoffs will run for the qualified people in conjunction with regular action, its just a bonus payout @ the end of September. This year you must play at least 2 rounds during September. Going to do a handicapped playoff and all rounds count. Will payout 1/3 of field based on low score average of handicapped rounds during September. So if you play 3 rounds, 3 rounds count. I will let you decide PRIOR TO STARTING whether or not a round will count. That way if you throw 2 keeper rounds in the 1st 2 weeks you can still play for regular action without fear of blowing your good score.

Looking for volunteers during Hotlanta
We are looking for 6+ non-playing people to assist in keeping the locals off the course during Sunday of Hotlanta. PM me if interested ... you'll get to watch some great action and I have some plastic for you.

One more thing ... I'm missing a basket, anyone end up with one in your car? I know its a traveller, possibly red, would have been there from 2 weeks ago?

Andrew had our card so I dont know what he did with it. I believe I was 2 over but I guess wait until you see andrew to see if you can get it from him. I will probably playt next week so should be qualified for the play.

Scores updated and uploaded. Dustin wins with 56 ... except for Craig and Aaron who would have gotten 1st, T-2nd but weren't in on cash!

I'll make a followup post in the morning when I get a chance to fine tune the handicaps.

Got out about 60% of the rope for Hotlanta ... all of 14, 15 & 16 ... 13 & 17 still need it. I'm going to get back out tomorrow evening if anyone is interested in helping ... PM me if so.

Small turnout (3 for action) + a couple of casuals. Park looking very nice, freshly mowed, and very quiet -- nobody around this week.

Very weak scores leave the playoff action wide open. I need to check the cards, but I think Ritger 67 actual, GT Chris 64 actual and a good round by Andrew C of 61 actual.

Next week: be there by 5pm to start

just wondering why week 1 was thrown out?
also, why am I listed as only playing 7 rounds when I have 9 rounds (counting the thrown out week 1) ?
my money stats say N/A, why is that?

--->Why is my week 6 scores all screwed up? I didn't quit that week, yet it shows that I got a lot of 9's ??? Seems week 6 & week 7 scores are confused?

I'm guessing the excel sheet got messed up somehow :? conspiracy? :P

Week 1 thrown out because all scores were statistically invalid for everyone (outside of 2 standard deviations). probably b/c it was cold & rainy.

questions 2 & 3 ... spreadsheet error. The 7 is just a count, i know that you were there 10 x's. Money stats say N/A b/c i didn't delete the formula for week 24 .... formula error.

week 6 is the one you quit in post-truck, dunno about week 7 -- the 9's mean you didn't write down scores for those holes.

Looks to me that week 6 & 7 scores were somehow combined/mixed up. I've never forgot to write down scores. I'm on my phone now and cant read the excel spreadsheet, but I seem to remember them kinda looking the same.
Either way I'm sure none of them are in my averages.

Haven't input the scores yet but I think this is accurate:

W - 55
GT Chris - 58
Ritger/Henley - 59
Miles - 67
Andrew - 68

This puts W in the lead for the playoffs with a strong start .... Henley and Chris and Andrew all around even .... and I'm averaging a handicapped 5 over.

Nobody in the park last night, perfect weather, 6 in on action + ~8 casuals in 3-4 groups

9.15.10: perfect weather -- finally felt like fall. park pretty much deserted; 14 dgers, 8 in organized, only 3 in action, 5 in ctps.

spreadsheet updated for last 3 weeks. @ GT chris, your card was added up wrong last week; marked 58 should have been 59 (should have been 3-way split for 2nd place !). i have the card if you want to double check it.

W is winning the playoffs; but close for last 2 cash spots. The 4 shown as Div/0 need to play the next 2 weeks or don't qualify:

Handicap Playoff Standings Adjusted Score by Week
Name H-cap 1 2 3 4 5 Average
Woody 3.00 58 58 58
K. Atkinson 2.25 59.25 59.25
Andrew C. -3.00 58 65 62 61.67
J. Henley 2.25 61.25 63.25 62.25
J. Ritger 3.00 70 62 56 62.67
GT Chris 1.00 66 60 64 63.33
J. Drage 3.50 #DIV/0!
C. Millay 2.50 #DIV/0!
J. Plotky 0.75 #DIV/0!
B. Orman -6.00 #DIV/0!

9.22.10 - Drizzle on the first hole :?: , but still hot. 7 show, 5 in organized play, 3 in on action. To the guy who showed up with his kid; sorry about picking up the baskets on you, but that's why you gotta pay the $1 course fee. Played the par-61 layout with 14 long. Kade cleans up with a 57 and three CTPs.

Kade - 57
Millay - 58
Woody - 61
Andrew - 65
GT Chris - 70

9.29.10:

Beautiful weather with 80 and sun; 5 show, 4 in on action.

Millay brings his A game and kills it with a 51, edging W and Kade for 1st in playoff~! That's on short #14 due to time, everything else long.
2nd Ritger - 54

Will update stats later, but looks like:
1st -- Millay
2nd -- W
3rd -- Kade
4th -- ??

Pulling your leg Woody.

And forgot to write that Miles nailed a LONG eagle on #8 after a not great drive to snag $51 from the fund, which now sits @ $50.

Somebody check my math, especially around last 2 cash spots. I've got me edging Josh by .08, and both of us jumping Andrew C. Note that I am working in Open Office on this pc, so this isn't all formula driven as i'd like it to be. Week's 1-4 are using a straight score +/- handicap = par 61 score.

Week 5 used the par 60 layout due to lack of daylight playing #14 from short pad. This is adjusted to 61 as a straight divergence from par (60 in this layout). Using my raw score of 54 as an example, 54 is -6 to par .... my 3.00 handicap + -6 to par = -3 to par + 61 = 58.00 adjusted score.

Handicap Playoff Standings Adjusted (to Par 61) Score by Week
Name H-cap 1 2 3 4 5 Average Payout
Woody 3.00 58 58 58 $90
K. Atkinson 2.25 59.25 59.25 59.25 $70
J. Ritger 3.00 70 62 56 58 61.50 $45
J. Henley 2.25 61.25 63.25 60.25 61.58 $24
Andrew C. -3.00 58 65 62 62 61.75
C. Millay 2.50 60.5 64.5 62.5
GT Chris 1.00 66 60 64 71 62 64.6
J. Drage 3.50 0 0 0
J. Plotky 0.75 0 0 0
B. Orman -6.00 0 0 0

yep, gotta adjust it to 61 .... so 57 + 2.25 = 59.25. Par 60 - 59.25 = -0.75. 61 - 0.75 = 60.25

everybody's score is +1 to get to par 61, like the other weeks. do make sure i have all the correct scores input though; i looked at it several times but needing double check on those.

A LONG eagle on #8 would be an ace, correct? Don't fret, I still think of it as 8 too. (Not trying to be a douche bag or nuthin', just sayin'.)

5 show for $0.25 skins. Brad Orman takes most of 'em; can't relay the amounts won because I'm still confused by Woody's math.

Next week is $1 skins. That's right, $1 per hole, mystery style if multiple cards. The most you can lose is $18. Bring change; no quarters. 5pm, meet @ picnic table by #7 basket.

5 come out for a round of Wolf; Woody butchers the math and Chris figures it out.

Ace fund carrying over is $50ish

There will likely be a couple of winter monthly actions and a tourney, but nothing firmly set yet. I'll post up here and in the tourney section well in advance of anything.
