12d?

I've heard rumors of the woods holes having to be changed, but I was surprised to find the 12d basked in the outside 12b spot (the normal 12b was in the inside spot). what was even more surprising was that the 12d short pin placement was dug out of the ground...

I'm sure this is part of some plan, but someone want to share? I don't know why we would have two baskets on 12b and none on 12d (I didn't walk over to the 12d long, but from a distance it didn't seem to be dug up...

it seems we are losing 12D to construction in the area by the rec center. I do not have all the info on this, however.

Intersting, that really sucks. Hopefully someone will post with the master plan!! I say we move 8 red tee to the left and put a basket down where the old BMX track used to be. That would be sweet as a new hole. Kinda have a lil White Oak number 6 flare to it. I bet we could fix 36 holes in at CP if the money was there.

If anyone that was there saw the red stakes, you'll see that 12D can NOT exist there anymore with the construction that will be begiining shortly.

Luckily that is the only hole being affected and the basket will be placed in a new location soon.

***12 C will probably go to a shorter spot, which is a straightaway shot from all 3 pads.
You will then go left where the mowed grass area is to a tee in the woods. 12 D will be played through the woods to where 12 C basket is now residing. Roughly 250 feet in length ***

This is what I think will happen based on conversations and the ease of getting the hole ready in a short time frame. There is also the ability to put 3 pads in the teeing area to keep all the holes with the red,white, and blue pads. I cut alot of the fairways vines and exotics down in the fairway in the pouring rain for 3 hours until my cutters snapped on a large vine.
I had also first cut a path thru to 13 E blue tee (which also gets to red and white tees) for a smooth transisition from 12C (now to become 12 D) until the new hole in finished, and I fixed the trench behind the basket so water flowed smoothly and towards the creek instead of piling up in the basket area, as well as made trenches at 12 E blue tee to let water flow behind there instead of piling up on the teeing area.

Be patient and it will be 27 holes again soon.

Got this message from Dave Kenny this morning...
Hello, just a quick update on the construction of the new Rec Center at Central Park...

Construction is supposed to begin on Monday, 1/25... As a result, there is an impact to Hole 12-D in the woods... We will lose this hole during construction and perhaps for ever.
We have moved 12-D's basket to the alternate pin position on 12-B.... There are two baskets on 12-B... You can play to both pins and still play 27 holes...

We are evaluating options to add another hole during construction.. We'll keep you posted... Thanks

we've made so many changes to the course since installation, such as new pin placements, distances and basket placement, and new trees, and such, are all wrong, and we have a bunch of changes planned. IMO, we need new signs, but we need to finish re-arranging the park, and raise new funds for tee-signs, along with the long list of new stuff we want

Sounds good to me! Let's get this club AS A WHOLE rolling and do this stuff. Planned work days, fundraiser tourney, sponsor packets for local businesses, and so on! This can be the year to make CP great and I want to help and I am not alone!

Before we make new signs - we may consider reconfiguring 17 and remeasuring it. I think that the red's distance has been off for a while. I think that the blue tee will be a really poor hole once the trees get a few feet taller. Maybe consider making the current red the blue tee (move it back 10 to 15 feet) and put red on the other side of the walkin path close to where the whites are, and put whites straight ahead.

Bobby - the former BMX area would be great for an alternate pin on occassions, but putting the pin there really screws with the flow of the course getting to the next pad. We used to put a basket on the ledge at the southwest corner of the retention pond for golds or such. That worked pretty well. But out in the middle of the BMX area would make backtracking to the next tee or a long walk around the pond - neither a good option for course flow.

I think with a couple of hours with 3-4 people the new 12D fairway and the 2 pin positions for the NEW C will be able to be worked out.

Do you want to schedule a workday for this SUNDAY Morning? - Saturday looks like rain/snow/mix.

I will be happy to finish the fairway, and will buy about 6 cypress trees to plant as blockers.
We can get this knocked out easily.

The work on 12C and 12D are now complete. Thanks Keith and Dale, great work!! 3 guys working for 4 hours and WHALA!! A new tight wooded tunnel shot hole for 12D and 12C is a straight shot from RED and uphill a tad!

Still some SMALL work to be done on the new hole so, not TECHNICALLY complete but playable and cleared for sure!

It is definitley going to be a tough hole. 12C is easier and a birdie oppurtunity now, but D is a very tight tunnel shot with a few trees in the fairway the closer you get to the basket. If I go out there today, I will bring my camera.

12 C alt position sleeve is in the ground which takes away the easier birdie run for the other position and 12D alt position is also cleared and ready to use as soon as Dave Kenney gives the OK.

I couldn't wait until the weekend, so I played 6 holes last night until it got too dark to see.

the new 12c (short I assume) isn't a bad shot. I can see how the new 12d (short) could be hard if you drift into the brush, but I got an easy par with a cobra.

If it is going to be a permanent hole for a while then the 'stubble' should be cleared some day. A few hours with a hachet would get most of those stumps out of the ground and provide a smoother fairway. If you are going to work some saturday let me know. (I just can't work sundays)

We're hoping the park can get in there with a bushhog and mow it, but for now it is what it is and will be trampled down by golfers and in a few months it will look totally different when the spring growth starts making it a little tougher.
The 12 C alt position and 12 D alt positions will definately make the holes tougher, but there is nothing wrong with having a duecable woods hole (12C short).

And what Bobby meant to say in his post was feel free to clean anything IN THE FAIRWAY ONLY - not the edges, as that will get trampled down and we do not want the fairways any wider or "local routes" to be created by taking out branches or trees that were left in strategic places.

I just wanted to clarify that by Stubble I was refering to all the 2inch high tree trucks that were left int he ground. I know the brush and scrub will get cleared out, but the remains of the little trees that were cut down will have to be cut or dug out.

I usually don't refer to something that small in diameter as a stump, but technically yes it is.

Bobby, you can't pull them out by hand, but you can cut/chop the roots just below the surface and cover them up with dirt.

If its not to muddy/rainy to play this saturday, I will do a few.
