New Idea for 2010 (better?)

Ok, here goes:

We are going to have one tag this year. I know, I am a little late, but the holidays were crazy for me. The deal with the one tag is, I will take 20% of the money that goes to the payout and use it for a 2nd chance round at the year end Match Play.

At the final match play event, I will take 20% of the payout and use it for a second chance match. Everyone who is knocked out of the first round will have a chance to buy back in for $5.00 at a chance to win the 20%. All the money bought in will be added to that 20%.

You will only be able to buy in to the second chance if you get knocked out on the first round. Half the field will get knocked out so it's the only fair way since they only get to play 9 holes or less with a shot at the cash.

All the numbers below are based purely on speculation. The more we sell the bigger the purse gets, obviously. Everyone has wanted one tag, now, lets see if anyone wants to try it this way. I know I do.

Example based on 45 tags sold:
30 show up for the final match event and 15 get knocked out.
Say 10 stay x $5.00= $50.00 + $57.00 (20% of payout)=$107.00

Final Match Payout would be:
1st-$91
2nd-$68
3rd-$45
4th-$23

Second Chance Payout would be:
1st-$43
2nd-$32
3rd-$21
4th$11

I would love to play pro. As soon as I can bring my level of commitment to practice up to par with my desire to compete for cash it, may become a reality. 2009 didn't go as planned and I have a different approach for 2010(Super-extended-extra-long putting sessions with an emphasis on less casual rounds). My time will come.

This year will be a test to see if the one tag system will work. It's what folks have always wanted since I started this, now lets see if those folks actually step up and buy them. The rules will be the same as last year, someone can collect tags if anyone wants to get in, or you can keep them and do personal challenges, or on-card challenges as well.

Start at 2000 and count from there. Absolutely if that's where it started. The first decade of the 1st century ran from Year 1 through Year 10. The first decade of the 21st century, therefore, consists of the years 2001 through 2010. You do the math and drugs.

You know I love to collect tags during an event.

I hope the big dogs won't mind challenging a low rated player like myself if I happen to be playing a shorter course during a tourney. I only ask the best players to please keep an open mind about that as I thnk in the long run they can always challenge later on and win it back.

Here is my example: I play the Blues at ERP and shoot my best rounds ever - Dollar (hope you don't mind Dollar) plays the Blacks and for some reason has the worse day ever of disc golf and I wind up beating him. Everyone knows he can beat me straight up so he can win a lower number back when he challenges me at Redan and beats me by 10.

I vote for this year we not worry about what tees any player is playing from if everyone wants to throw in at a tourney and we just have fun. The tags run all year and it is the match play event at the end of the year that really matters. The rest of the year is just bragging rights. Afterall there is lots of singles action like 2nd Sat, ERP singles, and now Flyboy action.

I am cool with anyone that wants to do whatever with the tags. I have always maintained that and as long as both sides agree to the challenge then it doesn't matter who shoots from where.

I too like the one tag system and will be buying one whether I get to challenge people much either way. My Disc Golf may be limited this year due to circumstances, but hope to be at as many events as possible. I also echo Scott's emphasis on the year end match play and would like to request that the date be set a little earlier, even though there may still be lots of events going on. I shouldn't have gone to the first one I went to for a couple reasons, and couldn't make this years because of the snow! Maybe mid November will bring out a better crowd? Ya never know, maybe just having one tag will bring out a better crowd and keep it in December? Wookie, you are the organizer, I'm just throwing out my opinion, and it will probably hyzer off and into the shule like my drives!

I met an out-of-towner at Redan recently that said they distributed their tags at a Putt-Putt course. They played a round of putt-putt and then set up mini baskets on the putt-putt course and played a round. The combined scores determined the order the tags were given out. I suspect the guy who owned the putt-putt course was a disc golfer.

So a REC or JR gets left out in the cold for a whole tourney bag tag throw in scenario. In the past my train of thought was that all players have to play the same course but I think in the long run this would probably have more people get tags and at least for one day they might be able able to beat a higher rated player..I would think their skill level would be enough of a handicap against a top rated player and the shorter course theory may level it out. Keep in mind not all tourneys / courses have different pads. ..Year End Match Play would be the big action anyway and everyone plays the same course. Just trying to make it fun for all and get alot of folks in to it. If I were a top rated Pro I would like as many people in it as possible for the Year End action and not worry too much about what happens through the year. I did more "private' challenges with my homies this past year and the tourney theory just let's you challenge some folks that you don't normally get to play with. Not to mention it could create a big shake up in the numbers. Like I said I do it for the fun of it anyways. Just my 2.5 cents worth.

More tags = more money. If an Adv./Pro. player doesn't want to challenge a Jr./Rec. player, then something is wrong.
The idea of a Tag challenge should be about FUN and bragging rights. Nothing matters till the E.O.Y. match, and it doesn't matter what tag you have since you'll be playing sooner or later for the title (and money).

I hope so. I emailed Charlie on Friday to see when we can expect them and I haven't heard back. It usually takes a few weeks and I ordered them back in mid-Jan. I will let ya'll know as soon as I hear something.

They shipped today. I should have them for the Perk this weekend. I am thinking it might be first come first serve and then let folks play each other from there, or I will take cash and settle it at the end of the two rounds.

Oh, it's green alright!! I didn't really specify when I ordered them, I was thinking more dark green but they ended up more a bright, sort of lime green, with a silver stamp. A little shocking at first, but they grow on you.
