Work days for new course installation 6/4 & 6/5

The time has come...

Kevin McCoy's newly design Oregon Park is ready to take effect the weekend of June 4th & 5th. With enough hands we'll have the entire course completed by the end of the weekend. Much of the prep work will be done on Friday so we'll need as many helping hands as possible to get the baskets, tee pad markers and tee signs in the ground both Saturday and Sunday.

Each day will be broken in to two parts (morning & afternoon) so any amount of time that can be donated is appreciated!

Everyone who comes out and WORKS will get their name in the "hat" for a $100 Disc Caddie gift certificate. If you come out both days your name goes in twice!

More specific details will be posted over the weekend, but please try to set aside some time next weekend to help put YOUR new O.P. course together.

* This work day will not include concrete tee pads as we still need 5 more hole sponsors to have enough funding to do so. If you or anyone you know has any interest please let us know. A 5 year hole sponsorship gets your name/info on both tee pads, the kiosk & a custom vinyl wrap for the DISCatcher basket on your hole.

That's a bummer...won't be able to make. Do you guys have the new map yet? Or is everything going to remain relatively the same, with a few changes. Or will these holes all be on the SwingTime side?

Everything is changing. There will be 2 widely spaced tee pads to two widely spaced permanent baskets on each hole. It will be an 18-hole course that you can play four different ways. The layout will use all the land available to us in the old Oregon Park as well as on the Swingtime side. Kevin is incorporating a few of the fairways that exist now into his design, as well as almost all of the concrete tee pads that are there now, but most of the course is going to be totally new. Examples: the Rock Shot hole will be more or less the same, but with a long basket added; holes 5 and 6 on the old layout are going to be combined into one hole (long and short basket); hole 1 white is going to still be there, but with another basket added and a long tee from 17 white; hole 2 will add another basket and another tee, but still be there; everything will be renumbered, of course. There is a map that we're working with to build the course, and there are markers in the ground now to guide us. We're planning to publish a map once the changes are all in place, and we will have tee signs in the ground to guide you. If you can't make it on Saturday or Sunday, consider coming to help on Friday. We're going to need all the help we can get!

As I only know the course from the Swingtime, ADGO Event side - where do we go on SUN Morning and what time do you plan to start on SUN?

I will be there to help but I've only been there once and on the Swingtime side, so i'm not familiar with the "original course" at all except for the one hole we played backwards at the ADGO Event.

We got a lot of work done today. All of the major clearing was done today, all the tee signs are set (36 of them) and about half of the baskets if not more are in place. We had about 25 helpers and it made short work of all the tasks at hand. We're hoping for a big turn out tomorrow with enough time for a round after we're finished. Tomorrow we'll need to move some more baskets, set tee markers and maybe some minor clearing. We have several baskets that are buried in concrete with no sleeves that are difficult to dig up. Any tools that would help in that regard would be helpful.

We're meeting at the lower pavilion in the swing time side of the park. You can drive down the gravel driveway beside new hole one (the island shot) down to the pavilion and park there if you wish.

We have plenty of water for workers. If you need, call me at 404-867-4254 for directions or questions. Several of us will be there at 8am on Sunday.
