To Sanction or not to Sanction

Im preparing to TD an upcoming tournament and I'm questioning whether to Sanction the Open Division. Reason is we would rather put the money in the purse than send it off to the PDGA (shame on us, right). As a Open player would you rather have an event sanctioned if it's not a full field? Do you care? As an AM is having a tournament sanctioned by the PDGA a bigger draw? We would be following all their rules and AM payout guidelines but again would rather put the money towards payout than sending it to the pdga. We'd also like a more relaxed atmosphere on the course.

I know some Pro's hand pick tournaments to protect their ratings. We'd like to avoid anyone having to worry about that.

Look at the calendar, how many sanctioned events are scheduled and non-sanctioned. Go with the non-sanctioned, it really changes the atmosphere of the tournament - defintiely makes it a little more about the fun, but with enough competitiveness to make it worthwhile.
