All kidding aside, if you worked it as a course fundraiser of sorts, they might waive the fee...but probably not.

What exactly do you do at an Ace Race? Is it a tournament or a way for Discraft to test discs before they mass produce them? I know Innova is sponsoring the FOCO 5 this fall, would this conflict with that sponsorship or anything if we were to do it?

If there is a big enough consensus to re-work some of Central, I think that would be a good idea. Or do a limited crystal disc fundraiser to cut down on costs. But of course, no one around here really uses discraft stuff.

Ace races are a blast. I absolutely hated the disc last year but it was still a blast, very laid back, cool time, my wife carried our team.

I've yet to hit an ace, but this sounds like it would be a fun experience, I would def get in on this.

Discraft recommends shortening the course for the event. Last year with putters there were probably few holes over 150' at Oregon.

That sounds like a cool thing to do. The prize packs and getting two discs and stuff for like $25 sounds awesome. I played the white course yesterday for the first time in a long time, and that would be alright for an ace race course I suppose. It's got my vote, if that counts for anything

This can be done but 350 a day to rent the course is ludacris. Its not like it is in the way of anything else. Do they charge 350 a game for a softball game? HELL NO they do not. I am for this and so are several others but sadly enough my vioce means nothing in the factor of getting things done at CP, I'm basically a chirping bird in the forrest it seems. I have not approcahed the P & R because everyone seems to portray them as a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE hassle to deal with. I just think we could really do a lot at CP to have more fun out there, raise money for different groups and make it better, BUT I am not sure how to approach doing so with all the opposition.

No - softball teams pay 600 to 800 dollars per team for a season. To rent a field for 2 hours is like 150 dollars. You can always do your ace race and not close the course for your event and probably not have to pony-up the 350 (may be less). How much should it cost to rent out a disc golf course for a day? We are way too spoiled...

Central is starting to get a lot more casual play (look at Alexander and ERP). How much should it cost for the park to shut out all of these people for a day? I think that Central is a great place for an Ace Race, but you'll have to make it shorter than the white tees on many holes. Charge an extra 5 or 10 per person and make it a course fundraiser to buy trees or finish up the tee signs and you might not have to pay anything to the park.

I understand and thanks FBJ. I know, well I think I remember correctly, that Perkerson was $50 a day. But, it is what it is. Some sponsors possibly would be great. I do not think I should solely run an Ace Race, I think the Club should, I will be more then willing to lead it or run it, but why not use the club personnel and all their resources.

I'm all for it. I think that it would be awesome to raise some money for the course and club to have for whatever they need it for. I know that I'm not as high up as some people here are in the CP rankings, but what about some CFRs? What does all the proceeds for the stuff they sell in the rec center go?

The GDGO is looking into an Ace Race to raise cash for trees, so I've read quite a bit about them. If you do the official Discraft Ace Race, you can't charge any extra money, even for additional value (like included lunch). Any extra funds have to be raised through side action, sales, raffles, etc.

I think it would be hard to run an Ace Race on an open course with any sort of casual traffic.

Yes but the player pack is $18 plus shipping (they say a buck) so you are looking at making $6 a person. If they will let that go to charity instead of coffer-lining then you are looking at $432 for a field of 72.

Somewhere like Lenora you could probably make 24-36 holes increasing the number by even more.
