This is an excellent course now and I am truly excited to see it in 5 years when all the trees are grown in more... Thanks to all involved for building this course. Now I have to talk my wife into moving closer!!

Lost a yellow Pro Wraith tourney day... can't believe no one pulled that out. Lost a Champion Boss weeks before that... can't even describe the color, reddish/purple?

Both have "C. Albers" and my number on the bottom, or inside the rim. I guess some barney pulled 'em and decided to keep them.

I still have the three discs listed in the first post... none of them came to the tourney.

People really need new strategies for number 17. Every other day a post comes up for lost discs in 17, imagine those that are not reported. I bet the designer really loves reading this post. Throw sidearm or a big ANNY, or just aim right. I think a lot of people get tired like my friend did and just have a bad throw or release. Of course next time I play the Alex KARMA will probably jack my disc in the POND OF HELL!!!

Lost my Champion Groove on 17 in the woods on the left side of the fairway past the pond. Might be hung up in a tree and shouldn't be too deep. I was really dark and I didn't have my flashlight with me. It's HIGHLITER YELLOW, 174g and has "Crow H." on the back with my phone number. I love my goove... much appreciated to anyone who finds it.

First of all, 100% agreement on the muck in the bottom of the lake on 17. Went in last night after a disc of my wifes that I could see from shore that was in less than 2 feet of water. Got soaked up to my belly button due to the slime on the bottom!

Secondly, a friend lost his red DX sidewinder with a large F drawn on it. he would appreciate it's return if someone else wades into the middle.

I have one, and it's not very useful in this case. The discs are usually jammed into the muck (since most shots landing in the 17 pond are hyzers). the Retriever can't get under the edge in such a case.

Well it was a bitter sweet day out Alexander park today. I found 24 discs in the pond in about an hour. One was taken when I wasn't looking it was a champion monarch, one was cracked, and one was my friends. On the bad side, I shot +5, I didn't find the one disc I loss and two nice size leeches had a field day on my leg. All in all i would say it was a good day. Ok so here we go this is what I found with names/numbers/intials:

-Orange Champion Boss - Returned
- Blue Cheetah - Working on getting back to owner.
- Orange Champion Firebird (Mark Valis) - Will be returned Saturday

B- donating to the group sounds like a great idea...IMO if you don't care to take the time to ink the disc you probably didn't like it that much anyways...or didn't know people did that and considered it gone to begin with.

Hopefully a few will be able to get theirs back but at least those that are lost will go to a good cause...better than the PIAS rack.

Donating the discs is a good idea... but the kids really need discs that are "friendly" to them as a younger thrower.
You don't want to hand "Little Jimmy" a 175 gram Boss and say "Have at it!" He'll be trying to throw it and it won't go very far at all since it's speed is rated way out of his league.

The kids need light wieght discs (150 class) and they need easy to throw discs like valk's, panthers, sharks, putters, & etc.
If anything, post them with details and let us bid for them ....then use that money to buy the kids some proper discs.

I understand what your saying. First of all i did find a 175 boss and that is going in my bag I threw it a couple times already and I got some amazing distance out of that thing. I have a couple friends that want to buy one or two and whatever I have left I will definitely put up here and let you guys bid on them.

My brother lost this disc on Hole 6 at Central Park last year. Its good to know that someone found it and then threw it in a lake. You can sell mine and donate the proceeds to the kids.

Oh, and by the way... if you find a disc with contact info on it and you keep without making any attempt to return it to the owner... that is a crime: theft of lost/mislaid property. So, whoever is selling marked discs to Play It Again Sports is a criminal.

I don't think the person selling discs is a poster on these boards. I did see some old guy carrying some discs off, he was wearing hip waders which I presume was because he just went wading, not because they are comfortable. Someone I was with recognized one of the discs he was carrying but didn't say anything. I can't remember exactly when this happened, but it was this last week sometime. He obviously didn't post a lost list here...

Is anyone checking used discs at PIAS against stuff that is listed here?

If you guys want to get this fixed,

1. Go to The Gwinnett Parks department and explain to them what is going on.

2. Go to PIAS and explain to them that they are contributing to the problem.

3. Find the guy and have the PoPo give him a ticket. Then explain to him that if he wants to retrieve the discs, do it legally through the county and then post them and MAYBE you guys losing discs will give him the SAME $2-3 that PIAS is givin him per disc, to get your disc back?

You may find that the county already knows what is going on and doesn't care, and it might be somebody that works for PIAS and doesn't care....

Either way, Bitchin about it here ain't gonna fix anything, let us know when someone local has stepped up and is working on solving the problem.

Yes, even though I had it wrong...I bought and returned a champ boss that I thought I saw on here but it turned out it wasn't...the guy had lost it 6 weeks ago and was very thrilled to get it back...apparently it takes a while to beat a boss in and is worth 9.53 to buy yours back.

I think Maximus is right, maybe a habitual lake chucker will lead the crusade?

Well it had to happen eventually! Lost White XD, vintage, on the far edge of the pond on #17. A wind blown upshot that was further complicated by my son's new wraith landing in the pond. Retreived the wraith as it was floating and drifting across the pond but no sign of my XD. Has CHOP 10680 and Theo written on the bottom. This is one of my oldies disc that are hard (read expensive) to replace. Will reward for return! PM me as there is no phone # on the bottom. CHOP

Thanks for the commentary... much appreciated. Letting people know what is going on, or bitching, as you put it, is one way to motivate people to action and certainly not a waste of time. Your suggested courses of action have already been done... both GCP&R & PIAS know what is going on. Whether either take action is up to them. If I ever catch the guy fishing discs to sell I will call the cops or arrest him myself... or at least threaten to do so... with the admonition that he not return.

Meanwhile, players need to take action if anyone is out there fishing out discs to sell. In actuality, even players are not supposed to be fishing out their own discs, but I ain't gonna bitch about that. GWCP&R has put it out there that NO ONE is to go into the pond to fish out discs, anyone that goes in there is trespassing. I understand why the rule is in place... but I don't really care about people getting their own discs... it's the jerks stealing discs for profit that need to go.

I was told today that signs will be put up around the pond signifying that to enter it is trespassing and may result in prosecution.

On a side note, I was also told that GWCP&R has no plans to ever dredge the pond or retrieve discs from it. So, from my perspective, if you lose a disc you're on your own... but I don't think any golfer is going to care when people are trust trying to retrieve their owns discs and/or return marked discs to owners. If I see my disc, I'm gonna get it...

Thanks Derek!! Team Alexander is AWESOME! If that's a sidewinder, it's the most overstable sidewinder in the world! I got it as a player's pack disc before they started marking star plastic with the star shape on the bottom. It was abbreviated S.Wr. and I think the "r" may have been smeared a little. Either way, I'll be glad to get it back! The tournament was held in Huntsville, Alabama at Redstone Arsenal and Brahan Springs. I highly recommend playing at Redstone if you get the chance. I have talked to several people at Alex that have bought used discs at "PLAY IT AGAIN" and I noticed that someone is using a sharpie to scratch out names and other info. I have found out that it might be possible to get police involvement when dealing with play it again. I will have a difinitive answer on Mon Jan. 25th. There is a law that prevents people from buying or selling property even if it is found. ga code 16-8-2 theft by taking: "A person commits the offense of theft by taking when he unlawfully takes or, being in lawful possession thereof, unlawfully appropriates any property of another with the intention of depriving him of the property, regardless of the manner in which the property is taken or appropriated." Under this code we may be able to prevent play it again from buying used disc ( same lines as a pawn shop)some of us might get them back. I know it does not cost very much for a disc but think of how many have gone in the pond and how many have been returned. If nothing else when I find out I will inform play it again and maybe they will be more aware of what they purchase.

I am not trying to be assanine but I don't see why people throw into the pond so much. I agree with the person from before about throwing into the gigantic open field to the right, sometimes you gotta just take par on some holes and move on. My friend got tired and had a bad throw I guess that accounts for some but I have learned that there are a few holes at every course where you really ought to just set up for par. There is no fun in losing a disc unless it is beat up and you do not care for it anymore. Let the discs do the work for you, it makes it easier, just like ball golf. All that being said Iam playing in the White Oak tourney tomorrow and will surely lose a disc into their pond!! Haha. ole Karma!!

The Play It Again Sports business model is to buy used sports equipment and resell it. Its doubtfull that they have someone intentionally taking discs from the pond to sell in their store. They aren't in the business of selling stolen equipment but from time to time Im sure a few items get through that shouldn't. Not a whole lot we can do about those items but we can change the culture of how disc golfers retrieve losts discs in the water and how Pias handles the reselling.

I have stated before how the culture is in Clearwater. Being that they have water on just about every course the local disc store has a policy about retrieved water discs. They give these kids about a buck per disc. The disc sits in a bin awaiting the arrival of the rightful owner up to several months before they move it to the resell/used disc section. The rightful owner pays about 3 to get it back. Very simple, easy and win win. Disc retrievers get something for going into the pond, PIAS gets cash for storing discs and returning them and owners are just happy to get that disc back.

Keep this in mind before you get 5-0 involved because they will most likely put up no tresspassing signs or make it a felony to swim... i think the disc golf community can figure it all out, I have faith!

You're right, no one intentionally throws into the pond. When I lost my disc, I threw away from the pond. Unfortunately, God wanted my disc so he created a 20 mph updraft which grab my disc from way to the right and sent it way to the left. It is amazing to watch the wonder of God at work!

if you guys tell Jerry(pias) what disc you have lost to look for and give him your phone number, he will call you and give it back for what he paid for it. He has done this for me, even went as far as to take a picture of the disc I was looking for on his cell phone ( I had a spare with the same stamp). Jerry is a very nice guy and has done nothing but help me out, I hate that some people give him a bad rap because bottom line is this crap isnt his fault, he is just tryin to help us out and run his business (selling USED sports equip) at the same time. If you havent been there go by and talk to him and you will see he is a real nice guy. He also sponsors tournaments from time to time so I dont understand why people cant figure out that he is not out to take advantage of us. Maybe if more people went in there and tell him what disc to look for he wouldnt give the guy takin them in there as much money for the discs as he would a person tryin to sell a legitimate used disc. I am pretty sure he will be on board to fix this situation if he just had more info. How can you expect him to know if someone is selling their disc or one they found in the lake. I am also pretty sure the guy getting the discs out of the lake is using his friends to go sell them to pias or otherwise he would know who the guy is bringing the stolen discs. Just my opinions here.

How about a buy back program like they do with guns. The problem is that there people who go fishing for discs are the ones marking out the discs and to go up to PIAS, asking if he has a certain disc, is not going to help if you cant go up there every day. It comes down to that something needs to be posted at the park. I really dont want to buy back my own disc for 7 dollars when I paid 14 new. The problem is tony that he does not verify like pawn shops do weather or not the disc being sold is that persons, which if stolen (taken out of the pond or found then sold)is a violation of the law, period. His buying used discs like this encourages people to disc dive and try to sell other peoples disc. He may have helped you, but if the parks had something set up and PIAS did verify that the person selling a disc with a name and number or scribble sharpie on it was theirs the problem would be not be as big as it is getting. And do you think he would help on the scale of people losing discs at Alex, look at this board and tell me he would look for all these discs when someone goes to sell used disc at PIAS. I understand its a business, but buying stolen items and selling stolen "regardless of the manner in which the property is taken or appropriated" as defined by Ga. law is a crime. There has been more talk than action, action needs to be taken, maybe we start a new thread and get the GDGO involved on helping fix this.

If it matched he could either offer them a couple of dollars for it, or not buy it at all. All i am saying is that he needs more info on what to be looking for. If PIAS called the number on the back and offered the owner a chance to get the disc back for the price PIAS payed, they'd get the good will of the player, PLUS the player visiting the store. I mentioned this to both store owners, but they didn't seem interested in bothering with it. I know I'd be happy to pay a couple bux to get my disc back and would probably shop around if I was in the store already.

PIAS did sponsor the GCO for $100, so I'm of mixed feelings on this. (1) Was unaware that the property or service was that of another;

The applicable defense here is subsection (1). In addition, there are other defenses which would be available to Play It Again Sports.

I think the best way to solve the issue is as Kade suggests, that way all parties benefit from the transaction(s).

I could go on how the Affirmative Defense could be thrown out as in. #1 name on disc does not match seller. #2 the buyer does not verify that said property does belong to said person. #3 ignorance is not an excuse. This is not the place to show cases where the Affirmative Defense was thrown out due to a person being ignorant. Example stolen car that is then sold. Guess who is out money, a vehicle and could be charged. Also saw a Chad R disc with name scratched out with marker yesterday, and 4 others. Question who scratched out with the marker. I do not want to get into it with PIAS, I do buy discs there from time to time. What I would like to see is more involement with the disc golfers and parks to prevent just anyone going into the pond. Lots of people have said they seen someone walking throught the pond picking out discs and dont stop to ask them about the discs they are getting. They post they saw someone in the pond and that is it. I see them go in and I find out if those discs have names on them and I have taken some of those disc and returned them. I still have about 8- 10 discs that still have not been claimed which are posted ( Kade i will bring yours to White Oak) Less posting about what is being seen out there and more action from the golfers out there. I am done posting about this B.S. My next post will be discs found in the pond! Hopefully some other golfers who see someone in the pond will confront them.

I think we should adopt the return fee policy that I have seen in other areas. It's usually $2. Maybe that would

For some of us that is the smart play. I throw a Star Boss or a Star Teerex everytime I play that hole. I haven't lost a disc yet. I'd say about 75% of the time I land in the fairway past the lake with a look at the basket. The rest of the time it hyzers out too much and I land in the woods, past the lake.

Caught a person in the pond yesterday morning pulling discs out. I talked to him and looked at what he fished out. Only one disc had a name on it. He admitted he fished disc out to sell and I advised him against doing that. i told him he could charge $2 for fishing out discs and getting them back to the rightful owner. He said he still had some at home and I told him to call the numbers and find who they belong to. I will not give his name or other information about him unless I see him at Alex at 8:15 am. Make sure your name is on the disc. If the names or numbers were local( the only one with a number was (850)area code) I would have taken the discs. I gave him this website to post the discs he found. We will see. If not I dont think he will be at Alex fishing again, I may have scared him away.

Out of all the times I've hit 17's pond, only 3 have never been retrieved (to my knowledge). I have no recollection of where the first 2 hit the drink, but since I saw pretty much exactly where the 3rd went in a few days ago, I thought I would give it a really dedicated effort today since it was a little warmer and the pond is down (and the last serious fisher I saw was on a Saturday a few weeks ago, and I'm not at all convinced his goal was to return them). So I slogged about the dead center of the pond for a good while and came up with 8 discs, none of them mine. Frustrated, I asked the pond to "give me one of mine!" and 2 seconds later found the only one of the 3 I didn't care if I ever saw again--go figure.

Anyway, 5 had viable contact info; the other 3 are minimally described below. PM with a completed description for return. CLAIM TIME EXPIRED

I apologize to those with discs closer to the edge, but I couldn't stay in any longer for charity; the sun was off the pond and the wind wasn't. For those that are incredulous to the fact that their discs haven't been found with all the fishing, let me say 1: I KNOW where my disc hit and couldn't find it 2: The mud is at least 9 inches deep in places and unless your foot hits the disc just right you'll miss it. I probably walked over my own several times. I did find one that was well buried tho. 3: The disc of mine that I did find I lost September/October. One of the people I contacted had lost theirs even longer ago.

I am in the process of working out a date in about the next two months to have a disc return day before a Sat Dub. i will be posting flyers as soon as I get permission to do so. My goal is to let ALL the people playing Disc Golf at Alex to get involved and help get discs back to their owners. If anyone has any ideas let me know. Perhaps once people start paying when they disturb these waters they will stop throwing their discs in the pond. We need to protect our wetlands.

Starting with this batch, I am asking for a $2 return fee. The reasons for this are as follows: 1) People put their names and numbers on their discs, I make contact, confirm desire for return, and then play endless phone tag trying to set up meetings. Now I have stacks of plastic just lying around that I can't designate for sale or play. I would otherwise return for free, but this is getting ridiculous. 2) I have had several people pay me this amount on the spot for fishing out a disc that just sailed in. If you really want it back, it's obviously worth it. Most that I find are old enough that the owners have gotten over it; thus, they aren't as aggressive getting it back. 3) People are already trying to buy them off me as I toss them on the bank. It also prevents total loss when someone points at a no-name lying on the bank and says it's theirs. 4) It will make me feel like I'm generating some income while looking for a job

It was a friends of mine and it was an awesome site to see. The disc hit on the right side of the fairway, flipped on it's edge and rolled all the way into the lake.... When it hit, it skipped several times before sinking.

I lost my green Champ Monarch in the pond today. I anhyzered it to the right, caught the edge and took a right turn roll right into the pond. Then, on my second round, my buddy did the exact same thing with his white Star Valkyrie.

I really want the Monarch back as it was my tailwind driver and I could get some crazy distance (at least for me) with it, so please return it if you find it.

Fore Palms DGC in Florida brings a diver out every so often to retrieve discs. The pond is larger and deeper (and 10x nastier) there, but same idea.

I have a lost & found section set up in my store, my next door neighbor Derek, AKA The-Disc-Diver goes in and brings them out, he got 22 today and all of them will be at my store. Derek charges 2 bucks retrieval fee for getting pond bacteria all over him, he has a section in the store and he always tries to call folks if their number is on the disc.

If anyone else finds Discs, feel free to drop them off at the store and I'll keep them safe and comfy until their parents come to retrieve them:>) And if anyone else dives for them and wants a section also then I'll be happy to set one up for you also...

Just out of curiosity, is there actually going to be a better chance of claims if the discs go to the Lenora office? Are they actually going to go through more trouble to hunt the owner down than the finder already has? Are they going to continually follow up a successful contact weeks and weeks after the owner still hasn't come to pick it up?

You can call me dishonest for charging $2 if you like, but there's a lot of effort involved in trying to get EVERYONE'S disc back to them, like the one above and even those WITHOUT NAMES And at the very least, there's something to be said for being able to look the person in the eye and say "You're Welcome" Don't get me wrong, I can see that maybe someone would find a disc, see the name and number, not want to deal with the situation and put it in the box, the Lenora office calls the number, and the owner comes to pick it up; so I'm not saying it's a useless idea, just that the efficacy will likely be low. I would guess that discs that make it there will be more likely to end up as a rent/buy disc from the park.

That's cool, I like that mode of operation; if you're willing to open the box for'em, I might start arranging pick-ups that way. I was more responding to the posted premise that if you couldn't get in touch with the owner, put it in the box and let the Lenora office find the owner. The box worked for you as a convenient pick-up point, but not in the way originally described. I want people who don't want to call to use the box, and if you guys in the ADGO are making the calls then I already feel better about it.

Well, I finaly did it. I put my favorite 162 Avenger SS tye die into the pond this morning. It landed on the ice and did a very nice spin and dance before coming to a stop on top of the thinest ice I've ever seen. When we tried to sweep it towards us, it just dove into the brink and after several attempts at wading in and fishing around...getting numb in the process, we had to give up. It does have my name and number on it so if anyone is brave or crazy enough to go diving....Derek?....thanks.

Threw two in a row into the lake on 17 (orange katana, white Nuke) and somehow lost my shades on the course after that. Black wrap arounds (kinda like those that old people wear after they go to the eye doctor )

Went for a swim this afternoon chasing a blue Star TL (name and number on back). Didn't find it, but I came out with a pair of Wraiths, a Sidewinder, a Valkyrie and an unmarked driver of some sort. Tell me the color and plastic and I'll get your disc back to you.

Unfortunately (for you anyway), the Valk has been returned and the unmarked driver was claimed as well. I didn't grab any green discs either. The Wraith is the only one as of yet unclaimed. I'll probably just drop it off at Disc Stalker next time I'm over that way.

Hey folks. Love the new hole layouts at course. Fun time shooting this past weekend.

Anyway, seemed to have left a neon yellow/green Star Sidewinder at course. Maybe 16 fairway? Possibly 13??? Name on bottom and #. Or if found kindly post. If is kind of special as it goes where I ask it to go.....except back in my bag.

Not sure what the return percentage is for this course but I would love to have it back. Can make arrangements.

So I am wondering where are all the discs at? I talk to people all the time and the say so and so got like 20 discs out of the pond yesterday. then a few days later someone else got another 14. SSOOOO, where are they? have people been getting their discs back? I know i threw one in no more then 10' in it was my tom brady stamped sidewinder with y name and # on it, and I have not gotten a call or seen a post about it yet. If people are going in the pond and getting them it is fine if you charge like $2, heck you can even set up your own lost and found station at disc stalker. They will help you out.

Lost:

A good friend threw his favorite driver into the pond last week. It is a very new red Champion Valk w/ blue stamp, not sure of the weight. It is in the back left corner of the recently re-filled pond maybe 10-15 feet in. There is no name or number on the disc .

Another good friend threw a brand new yellowish/green C line PD Freak into the pond a couple weeks ago when it was low, but so murky we couldn't see it. It has his name & number on it.

In the past couple months since I started playing, I have lost two in the pond:
An orange DX Wraith, had ink on it, but might have been smudging off and be unreadable. Was pretty much dead center of the lake, has one nice gouge from a tree, but other than that it's in pretty good shape.
Also threw a champion tye-dye roadrunner w/ name & number on it into the right side of the lake somewhere. The trees blocked my view so not sure where it landed, possibly in the water or the tall razor-grass on the far side.

I can live without my two losses, but both of my friends really miss their discs. I'd love to get the discs back for them, so if anyone finds 'em a PM would be greatly appreciated!

While looking for the discs last week I found a beat up Star Teerex with three names, two numbers and a bible quote on it. Wasn't sure which number to call, looks like both were X'd out by whoever added the bible quote, lol. If you can tell me one of the names or what the quote is, it's yours!

Lost on 17: Ugly white star wraith. Bad dye job of "zamar" on top (in Comic Sans for extra goodness).

It skipped to the left just shy of the basket. It's probably not in the water, but I combed the shrubbery for 40 minutes. That's more combing than my hair has had in 15 years.

Seriously, you don't want this disc. It's nasty, but like my deranged, leprous, dyslexic 2nd cousin, it has sentimental value to me.

thanks for the post forrest, but the dics i threw into the lake on 17 was a lime green C E valk. im sure that someone went into the lake after the tourney this past weekend. on the back of the disc has whapow pdga # 3008 or CPS pdga # 3008. i hope the "fisher person" is nice and honest and tries to return my plastic. a reward is waiting for this nice person. please take disc to the disc store. thanks again in advance i hope !
