When is the White Oaks looking at having regular tourneys or regular action? Cost of admittance? First tourney with the 18 layout?

I'm just another West Cobb guy looking for new experiences and haven't made it out yet.

Once we get the back nine installed, we will look at having some local action.

Not sure what the schedule will be yet so stay tuned for details.

After the time changes back, we will probably run some weekly double action also, stay tuned for details on that.

We will always be trying to raise funds for more improvements also, so if you know of a business or individual looking at sponsoring a tee sign or basket let me know.

With the daylight savings switch rapidly approaching I was wondering if there has been any new discussion about weekly doubles action. I think Tuesday would be a great day since the only other action is on the other side of town and thus non conflicting. Since I'm currently jobless with a lot of free time I would be happy to run the action unless someone else out there wants to. I was also thinking about monthly singles action on a weekend that doesnt conflict with other parks' activities. But one step at a time. If anyone has any feedback or thoughts about weekly dubs hit me up. Hooray it's disc golf season again

Awesome!! I say go for it.

I would love to have some weekly doubles out at White Oak!!

Go ahead and make it happen. Tuesdays sound good. If not maybe Thusdays. I do not think we would draw the same crown as OP anyway. Whatever you decide, I will back you up.

I agree!!

Keep it low entry, but with buy-ins for Ace, CTP, etc..

Maybe throw a $1 in each weak for a course fund.

I will throw-in some free CTP prizes when I get out there for doubles.

Alright, at least until I'm employed again I'll run action out there on Tuesdays at 6pm. I'll take all input and feedback regarding the setup and buy in. I'm used to the Oregon park action of $6 mandatory to play with 4 $1 CTPs, $1 ace fund, and $1 course fund for a grand total of $12, but like I said, I'm open to suggestions. Will also probably have any Intermediate or Women players involved throwing from the shorter tees. Blind draw format with top third paying out, odd dog (extra shot per hole) when numbers are uneven. So everyone get the word out. I'll try and bring as many OP regulars as I can. White Oak dubs is going to be the best dubs in town. The course is perfect for it with all the risky shots. Someone lay up and someone run it. I can't wait. :twisted:

As long as the daylight savings switch is this weekend, then yes, dubs starting Tuesday the 10th. This will now ensure that I get absolutely nothing done during the week, except maybe on Mondays. Tuesday White Oak, Wednesday Perkerson (which everyone needs to go out and support), and Thursday OP or ERP. So tell everybody so that we can get a big turnout to kick off the season.

I think you are reading this wrong.

It is only $7 to play.

$6 fee + $1 course fund.

All the other action is optional. Where can you get more for your money's worth??

Thats only $7 for over an hour of fun.

For right now tee off has gotta be at 6. Like Grease said, we'll run out of light if we go any later. It still might be a stretch to get done in the light for the first few weeks. As for the buy in, if $12 has kept anyone from getting involved with doubles in the past, then I don't know what to say. That's pretty standard. Every other course that I've played weekly action at is somewhere between $10 and $15. You gotta pay to play, otherwise where is the fun. Anyone can play casual rounds for free at any damn time they please. I guess we could just play for hugs, or maybe the winner each week will get a gold star next to their names and at the end of the season the person with the most stars gets a mogwai. And the person with the least amount of stars gets injected with AIDS :mrgreen:

Some might be open to this, but I think I'm gonna stick with a buy in between $10 and $12.

The ATL is known for throwing around the cash. How much cheaper would you want it? You can play free dubs anytime if you get a couple of more folks on the course.

I am the farthest from a Pro but the point and chance of random draw dubs is that you get the chance to draw a Pro and help out and ya'll can try to win some cash back. Plus it's fun to watch other folks play that you don't normally get to play with during tourney's or just out on the course.

It is 100% on for Tuesday night at 6pm. I'll be taking money at the pavilion starting at 5:30. $12 all in, exact change would be appreciated, and the first person to bust out quarters gets flicked in the sack. We draw partners at 6, so we should have enough daylight. This is just the trial run out here at White Oak and I am open to all suggestions, but I think it should run pretty smoothly. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there

Let me first say thanks to Millay for coming out and running the action last night. It was a great time. I can not believe that a -13 took top play. That is impressive for this course. If you were not able come out last night come out. It is a great course to play. I just wonder who is bringing the "GREEN" next week?

Thanks to everyone who made it out last night. It was a great time and I look forward to even better turnouts once the word gets out. We had 13 people show for the inaugural event. Chinn and I set the bar pretty high with a -13, but that's easy to do when you cheat as badly as we did. Mike D was in our group and we paid him off to keep quiet :mrgreen:

But seriously, thanks again to all who made it and I look forward to seeing more of you out there in the weeks to come.

It was still light enough to see an object at 8:30pm yesterday. That said, try moving the tee time to 6:30 and a few more people will definitely show up for the action. Those of us who work regular business hours can't all get there in time for Pete's sake.

We waited a few minutes for stragglers to show (probably actually started at 6:15ish?). Our group finished with plenty of daylight but the group with 5 took 20 minutes longer and finished at about 8:15. It was too dark to really play (for $) at that point. The days are still getting longer though...

I definitely think that in another few weeks that I can move the tee time back with no issues. Right now, if there's odd numbers that make a 5some or 6some, the rounds take a good bit longer. I'm not too strict on the 6 pm start time. If anyone is running a little behind (10-15 minutes) let me know and we'll hold off. My phone is 770-597-4761. All that said, Tuesday 21st dubs is on, and the weather looks like it will be great. Hope to see a bunch more folks out there

Does anyone have any interest in regular Saturday morning handicapped singles ? If so, I will look at organizing this. Roughly speaking, I think it would work well to start @ 10am, so we can beat the crowd. I'll consider any of your suggestions on buy-ins/prizes.

I like the idea. I have been considering starting a handicap in the area, possibly at oregon. But you running it at White Oak is fine with me. :mrgreen:

I was planning on keeping it cheap ($5ish) to encourage newer players to come out and doing payout in plastic plus CTPs. I am willing to help with this if this is kinda what you had in mind.

I have to go out of town the 16th of May. Let's talk this idea up for the next couple of weeks, and see if we can get a nice group of us formed to start Handicapps on the 23rd of May. If I can get someone to pony up some plastic for prizes, then great. Otherwise, I would do a cash payout. I think the $5 buy in is fine, and just like doubles we can have ctp's and ace fund.

I would be sporadic at best but would like to play and wouldnt mind helping. I guess the first thing would be figuring out if people are still interested in playing. Also should the board be modified to let people know this is on hiatus?

You will have to excuse me for reading the large posting on this page that states:

Tuesday:

Daylight savings started in the middle of this month but I guess you are right, its just common sense that this wasnt going on (Sarcasm).

Hi I would like to make white oaks at least once for dubs. I just played it yesterday(sunday the 11th) and it wasn't the greatest time because the park was packed! But I really liked the course. The length was nice the pads were alright considering no cement. The only problem I have with getting there is I'm a student at Life University here in Marietta and it's solid half hour or so to drive there maybe a little more. I get out of class at 5:20 maybe a little before. My question is if I show up at 5:55 will I still be able to get in on the doubles? I do now know how to get there so that should make the time a little less when I'm driving there.

Grease, we are trying to get some dubs going. Last week only six showed up but as long as the rain holds off tomorrow hopefully you can make at least seven!!!! approx 6:30 start $10 buy in. Finished in darkness last week, so drop a flashlight in your bag.

We will try to crump the bad weather and have the axn tonight ! Good news, we just topped off the teepads with fresh gravel, so they'll be fine.

Last week we finished in the dark, since only 6 ppl showed ( I.E., we had a super group !) If you could all do me a favor and show up in multiples of four, this would be awesome.

A bunch of folks I saw at Fly Boy this past Sunday, said they are coming to White Oak this Tuesday. Possibly enough for some good payouts. Weather should be good too. See everyone at 6:30 on pad #1.

Great time out there on Tuesday for doubles!! Pretty good turn out 8 people!! Hopefully there will be some more people show up next time. I would recommend for people to come out for it. There are some good players and some great people out there for doubles. Plus it's a great course to play at! Come on out! 6:30 every Tuesday. It was 10 dollars all in. 5 for doubles 3 ctp's an ace fund and a course fund. Pete does a great job running the action every week.

Great time out there tonight. 15 showed up. There were some amazing shots and good scores. I almost got an ace on 17 and then Pete nailed a 2 from about 80 or so out to take away my nice drive!! Great shot man!! I hope to make it out again next week and hope to see another great turn out!

Scores are definitely beatable, but not if you don't show up. It was a great showing this week, and thanks to all for making the trip on a weeknight.

We had another good showing of 14 people. Thanks for coming and trying the diff. layout.

first place was -5, second was -4, third was -3 on this par56. Scott can fill in the names, since I think he still has the cards. Thanks for the heads up move in collecting the cash, that defintiely saved time.

Bradshaw got ctps on hole 10 and 16, while Millay got it on 5. well done guys.

Weather permitting this weekend, the course will be moved back for the summer. still looking for the right way/place to manipulate the course, so that we can keep the awesome new par 4 hole.

Dont know if this is the right place or not but sure the right people will see this. There is a yellow jacket nest just on the other side of the creek and slightly down from 14's baseket. Also noticed some hornets at the nest at the base of the tree near 16's basket. Just letting whoever know.
