Alex baskets to start moving at the end of August

Postby gvan » Fri Jul 24, 2009 10:07 pm

Good news and not as good news:

Gwinnett Parks and Rec have given the GDGO the key to the baskets at Alexander Park.

Because they are having a corporate event on August 23rd, they asked us to keep the baskets where they are until that event is over. The corporate challenge folks want to practice the exact layout of their event until the day it happens. This is bringing money to the park so they want to accommodate them in this regard.

After that date, the baskets will change at a rate of 2 or 3 pin changes every couple of weeks. The locations will be updated on the GDGO.ORG website and also on dgcoursereview.com when they are moved.

Is that so bad? Are the baskets in really short positions?

Nope, it's not so bad. I called it "not as good news." :)

The only one that is short is the 16 basket but I don't really mind because long 17 makes up for it and 3 400+ foot holes in a row is a bit much...yeah I know...oh wait, my skirt is dry...gotta go!!

Isn’t #16 in the long (A) position)? It seemed like it was when I played last weekend.

Nope. Currently 16 is short, 17 is Middle and 18 is long.

I would really like to see 15 in it's B position.

Yeah and 10 in one of its Alts would be fun too.

I would love to see 10 in the long position. Back deep in the woods.

That is not the case. There is plenty of pin-movin, manpower available.

We have an agreement with GCPR and stick to it as closely as possible. They were not initially inclined to give us a key at all, so we want to make sure that we work within their guidelines. 2-3 pins move twice a month. Is that significantly less than in other parks? I'm not sure.

Incidentally, We have received feedback that they move too often and feedback that they don't move often enough in roughly equal amounts.

Not to relive a old post but are they going to change again any time soon?

Tomorrow in fact. 4 on the schedule since they didn't move 2 weeks ago.

Probably not as the midgets can only work for a "short" amount of time.

Basket updates?

They are updated on DGCR. Four baskets moved this week and they are all in position for the tournament now.

It's long, like it was last time. No one could possibly ace that again.

Corrected post for proposed wager:

I will pay double the ace fund entry, and The club doubles the payout fund if I do it again.
