Nobody has a sense of humor anymore, I just threw out #2 so Doug would throw some more stats out there.
Let's see if I say hole 6 is really a par six, Dougs' stats will prove me right.
If I say hole 9 plays at 4.267, Dougs' stats will prove me right.
If I say that hole 12 plays at 2.6794, Dougs' stats will say I'm off by .045.
Just don't ever let me be there again and not play or someone will die...very painfully.
I don't give a crap what Par is on any course, my goal is to shoot what is my best possible score on the hole.
I usually fail miserably at it but I'm stupid enough to keep trying for that 1 time when I do pull off the great round, and then I'll still complain about it.
Par is relative and only comes into play to cause people to get all excited like this thread has proved.
My opinion on the Crucible is it's the best designed course and use of land of ANY I have seen so far in the state of Georgia.
I tweaked a couple of the tees on the mid and short tees to better use the land in my opinion for those few tees.I wish with all my heart that it one day becomes a permanant fixture.(knowing damn well it probably won't in my lifetime)
My opinion of par for the 1000 rated golfer at the Crucible.
Hole 1 easy 3
Hole 2 should be 3, easy 4
Hole 3 should be 5
Hole 4 easy 3
Hole 5 easy 3
Hole 6 should be 5
Hole 7 should be 2, easy 3
Hole 8 easy 3
Hole 9 should be 3, easy 4
Hole 10 should be 3 easy 4
Hole 11 easy 4
Hole 12 should be 2, easy 3
Hole 13 easy 4
Hole 14 easy 4
Hole 15 easy 4
Hole 16 could be 2 easy 3
Hole 17 easy 4
Hole 18 should be 3 easy 4
Could be 60
Par of 68 or 69 is not unreasonable.
I'll remind you that Phil Arthur shot 59 and 61 in back to back rounds as a 1005 rated golfer there in October (5 months ago) and I shot 67 which was rated 994 for a 953 rated golfer(and I suck).
In my opinion
, end of discussion.
