I've got a quick question... i signed up already through solstice but i signed up for intermediate. The new player ratings came out so i have to move up to advanced. Should i just mail in $15 to the TD with a note stating my predicament. Or can i just do it on solstice and it will void my first transaction? Just wondering the best way to take care of this. Thanks in advance.

I don't think Solstice is setup to make changes or add $15 to an order plus i would hate to see you have to pay another $3 fee. I'll change you to MA1 and you can just send me the $15 check. My address is on the bottom of the tournament flyer. Thanks again for noticing.

FYI
There are only 17 of the HOTLANTA Supercolor discs left and 21 hole sponsorships left. Entries are now pouring in at a rate of about 5 or 6 per day. Sellout anticipated in about 2 weeks. Please sign up early.

HOTLANTA is filling up quickly. I recieved 11 entries over the weekend and another 9 on Monday and Tuesday.

As of right now, there are only 26 AM slots left and only 49 pro slots. There are also only 15 of the Supercolor Sponsor discs left.

I anticipate HOTLANTA filling in about 7 to 10 days; possibly earlier on the AM side, so please enter early. The field will not be expanded. 72 players per course is the absolute maximum.

For those of you who like to live on the edge and wait until the last minute to sign up for tournaments, I have good news. No, we are not going to expand the field beyond 72 in each player pool. But once we fill we will start a waitlist via online registration. If you choose to register after your player pool fills, your credit card will be charged. If you do not get into HOTLANTA, a credit will be issued to your credit card account (LESS THE $3 ONLINE REGISTRATION FEE) shorty after the tournament. No cash refunds will be made for online credit card registrations.

Please try to avoid this situation be registering as soon as possible. I anticipate selling out in 7 to 10 days but it could be earlier - ESPECIALLY IN PLAYER POOL A.

Player Pool A (Advanced, Intermediate, Women and Juniors) only has 24 slots left.

Player Pool B (All Pro?s and All Geezers) has 36 slots left.

All Ladies & Juniors will use the short tee pad. Everyone else will throw from the long tee over the pond or around it.

Can someone tell us what the distance from the long tee please?

There will be a short, hopefully no more than 1 hour, cleanup at Redan this Sunday before Doubles. The plan is to police the recently mulched areas and pick up all that is not mulch. Please bring a stick with a nail on the end or gloves to pickup trash with.

We could also use a wheel barrow and shovel to move some of the mulch from hole 8 to places that need it like in front of the 2 teepad.

I would like to start Dubs ontime and also ask players to pickup any trash they see during the rounds and deposit in the proper receptical.

The course is now setup for Hotlanta - all Pin Positions should stay where they are now through the end of the tournament. The only exception is hole 7 at Redan. If we can get the lock tab repaired before HOTLANTA, the basket on 7 will back up about 30 feet to the medium position.

Good call - please let me know if you find my ankle that I left there last year. There may still be a few pieces of it laying around.

Do you have a manual on how to make your own stick with a nail in it? I want to make sure I get the nail on the right end.

Special thanks to Ed Jacob and Mike Curtis for volunteering to repair the broken hole 8 basket at Lenora this Saturday morning.

I would also like to thank TOMMY for volunteering to fix the anchor tab issue on hole 7 at Redan.

It is truly a pleasure to run a tournament like HOTLANTA when volunteers like this give so selflessly on a moment's notice to the sport we all love. It is people like you who make my job as TD an enjoyable one.

ET would have to get his money in quick and hope for an am spot. As of 11 pm on Thursday there were 5 am spots left. No matter what division ET plays in he would be at Lenora on Saturday and Redan on Sunday. He should send his money in as an Pro Grandmaster and he should be fine. Hell, he beat Hammock and Moose on Tuesday carrying Brett Rousseau on his back.

That isn't really true Moose. Funky Bobby has it right.

There are never enough Pors to fill a course; but always more than enough ams. So I put the Advanced Maters and Advanced Grandmasters with the Pros to allow more Ams to play. Here is the schedule as shown in Jay's opening post on this thread above:

ADGO Founding Father Chris Byrnes, probably best remembered for all the PIZZA'S I used to bring to Tues doubles @ Redan, is coming to Hotlanta.

I haven't played Redan or Lenora in 10 years!!

I am really looking forward to seeing some of the old gang, Speedy, Kevin, Paul, Mike, Vern, Nabber, Wes, Woody just to name a few that I saw were registered.

I tried to make Secret Squirrel Soiree last year, but couldn't get a spot.

amazing how a comment can get twisted.
when i was playing with FBJ yesterday at second saturday, i told him i remembered the origional Hotlanta post saying pros and geezers would play in a pool and i took that to mean the geezer part would be comprised of pro masters, pro grandmasters and (mabye) pro senior gms. that's all.

FBJ then correctly told me his understanding was the geezer part also included advanced masters and adv gms, as well as the pro geezer divisons. i didn't say somebody told me the am side was full (?).

at what point in time the origional post was changed from "pros and geezers" to "pros and adv masters and adv gms," i can't say. point is, it's clearly spelled out now and that's what matters.

thanks for the claification TD and staff.

...and,btw, no one on team Rousseau carried anyone at tuesday doubles. it was just one of those great doubles rounds we're all fortunate enough to enjoy from time-to-time, where each partner contributed at the most opportune time. just like the eurorandy/daniel may team. i will say brett rousseau is one fine person and one incredible disc golfer!

I have one suggestion for you Woodrow - Dial deoderant. You took on a pretty funky smell this morning shoveling all that mulch around.

Thanks to you and the Second Saturday crew for your help clening the mulch. Redan is lookin better every day thanks to our volunteer spirit.

I think it is incredible that 10 people showed up in the rain this morning at 9:00 with homemade nail sticks to pluck the trash out of the mulch. Mulching the pads of holes 9 and 18 is like icing on the Redan cake. The Redan crew is incredible. Thanks again to the following who showed up and helped:

But there are 72 signed up for pool A which has a capacity of 72 and Mr. Chris Logan has the pleasure of being the 1st person on the pool A waitlist.

Sween, Sween!! Take some advise from an old wise man. Last time i went to your course(house) i made the mistake of making this comment.... "Geez, is everybody and everything in this house(course) UGLY, DISGUSTING, and IGNORANT?"!! When i noticed that a flea in the corner obviously wasn't any of those things. In fact, it was a very good looking flea(without the Sweeney forehead and other disgusting Sweeney traits)! Anyway, i said it outloud and next thing you know i am hitting everything on that course(house). I hit one of those trolls you called your kid, i ripped your Wham poster(with a roller!!).I even hit the Truman Capote bust(the one with its mouth open) next to the restroom. Anyway, what i learned that day son was don't blame a course of people for what a few might do!! So, from us Redan locals that aren't bagging (most of us), may the trees be with you this weekend!! The course will get the last laugh, always!! Haha!!

Baggin Schmaggin...There has to be one guy who does it otherwise we wouldn't have the fun of cracking on them. I personally want to thank Jason for taking on that role for this tourney.

Now for what's really important - Can anyone say Geezer Am Bag Tag Challenge. I am challenging any and all of you for a 4 round challenge. If you got a tag bring it with you to POOL B, and that includes Mr. Ed "the Cannon" Jacob who is dipping his toes in the Pro Pool. Be careful Ed, you will probably get an infection.

Players list has been updated. We are down to 6 spots in the B pool and remember - we don't swim in your toilet, please don't pee in our pool!

Speaking of fluids...

We are looking for 3 or 4 more large water jugs to use at the tournament. They need to be clean and I would like to get my hands on them before or during doubles on Friday.

Online registration closes at the end of the day Thursday and in person registration closes on Friday at 5 - if we aren't full before then.

Early check-in will be available for both the A and B pools at Redan on Friday between 3:00 and 4:45.

Doubles signup will also be taking place with pick-em planned for 5:00 sharp. The cost for doubles will be $15, and that includes $5 worth of cash CTP's.

You will also be able to sign-up for the tournament Ace Fund and Ca$h CTP's on Friday and Saturday before the players meeting. $10 gets you in the tournament Ace Fund and ca$h CTP's. There will be separate CTP?s for each pool but the ace fund will be split among all tournament aces (Doubles Aces do not count). I know this is a little confusing so?

PLEASE BE SURE TO SIGN-UP FOR THE CORRECT CASH CTP POOL. If you play in the A pool, do not sign up for the B pool Cash CTP?s.

Most of this is also explained in your program but if you are still confused, ask a staff member.

All jokes aside, I was looking at past Hotlanta scores and noticed his last rating was 964, and he has accepted cash before since he won Fire Ant last year.

Isn't there PDGA rules about Pro's over 955?

Or since he isn't a current member does it not matter?

I think he is still disapointed with his -21 for two rounds he shot at Lenora his last Hotlanta Am tourney several years ago. A very inconsistant -11 and -10 rounds. Then he came to Redan and played well and won the Advanced division which was a large one. That may have been his last Am tourney. Does anyone remember what year that was?

Yes, it is true - the A pool is sold out and there are 4 people on the waitlist. We will stop adding to the waitlist when we get 10 names on it.

Let's say a Pro Player that is rated at 964 does not renew membership for 2007 and decides to play advanced (because he/she is not a PDGA member), it's the TD's responsibility to place non-pdga members in a division that matches said players skill. So this is really a no brainer where this 964 player should be placed.

I just picked up the T-shirts from Jordy Boyd at the Trophy Case in Gainesville and they are sweet. They have the HOTLANTA artwork in full color on the back and the tournament disc logo on the front. These shirts are not part of the player pack and were printed for sponsors but I will have a few available for purchse this weekend as a tournament fund raiser for $15.

There will also be a very limited number of the HOTLANTA Supercolor Buzz available for $25 or save $5 and get a T-shirt and a Supercolor Buzz both for only $35.

Saturday (Ams): Jay, Imran, and Tyler are all non-playing Staff so the parking lot will have someone there at all times

Sunday (Pros): Pnut is the non-playing TD and not sure who else he has that is non-playing.

We also covered contacting the Parks and Police asking them to make some extra stops at the the park.

I will be spending some time in the parking lot at Redan on Sunday but probably more time on the course.

I don't have anybody available to guard the parking lot. We have never had a breakin during anything as large a a sanctioned PDGA event, but try not to leave anything valuable in your vehicle during the rounds.

It would also be a good idea to have the 3rd or 4th person scheduled tp drive on hole one make a quick jog to the lot for a quick look around. Please hurry back to your group so we don't start to backup on hole 1.

Mr, Dammes, i beleive we need another announcement. I now have 144 paid, registered players for Hotlanta.

And i still have 3 waitlisted people for Pool A.

I would also like to announce that it takes 3 players to make a division.

There are currently only 1 MJ2 and 2 MG1's. If this situation remains the same on Saturday morning, the MJ2 will merge into the MJ1 division and the MG1's will merge into the MM1 division.

Small divisions are always hard to handle as are last minute division changes. The PDGA Competition manual states:

?Tournament Directors may offer divisions with less than four players at their discretion.?

I posted the following early Thursday afternoon:

?I would also like to announce that it takes 3 players to make a division. There are currently only 1 MJ2 and 2 MG1's. If this situation remains the same on Saturday morning, the MJ2 will merge into the MJ1 division and the MG1's will merge into the MM1 division.?

Did you want to play in a division of two players or did you want to play Pro Grandmaster? If you did, you should have approached me sometime prior to the tournament after my post on Thursday.

I hope there are no hard feelings over this.

The volunteer spirit of the disc golf community is incredible and we couldn?t have tournaments like HOTLANTA without the help of a lot of people. Again I would like to thank the sponsors, CTP contributors, the hardworking staff and especially my two assistant TD?s, Scott Prandy and Jay Voss.

The scores have been posted on the PDGA website. Please make sure your scores are correct and let me know if you find any discrepancies. It took a while to enter all 288 scores from yesterday and I couldn?t have done it without a little help from ROCKSTAR.

...i read it about 8:30pm, right after checking the PDGA Hotlanta Tour player listing and noting a formerly adv. gm registrant had moved to adv. master. it was my misunderstanding that any other division affected by this type of action would also become subject to this announcement.

Great Tourney and I appreicate the patience of all of my playing partners as I stunk it up around the courses.

I challenge all of you to volunteer for an event and help out. It really is quite amazing when you get to see the "behind the scenes" side of a tourney, and it gives you a greater appreciation of how hard people work to make these events happen.

However, it is frightening when you see Morty Finkel's bare ass in the parking lot. My eyes still can't focus. :shock:

Morty was parked a few spots from me. Everybody was changing in to dry clothes in the parking lot. Pnut and I were talking at my car and he said "hey look at Morty". I turned to my right, saw the butt in question, and went temporarily blind.

Girlfriend was a no show on Sunday. Too bad, she probably could have made a couple of bucks. Maybe she can be a "Ho Sponsor" for the next event.

I just wanted to thank all the folks that put on HOTLANTA, I sure had a great time.

It was so nice to see everybody again, I sure do miss Atlanta.

My hat is off to Bob for winning Adv Masters, it sure was a pleasure playing with him and Speedy and Scott at Redan. I'll be back next year with a putt that will stick :twisted:

Thanks for the mini Greg, I meant to give it back but forgot.

Major props to Paul & all the guys who ran the show and volunteered. This is the smoothest tournament around. The way you guys handle all the players at two courses is really impressive.

Thanks to all the well wishers - it was really cool getting my first W with the groups of guys that I played with. I thought Speedy was going to catch me - but it was great to hold off such a great player. Chris and Scott, you guys were great to play with too.

Lastly, thanks to Jason Dowling for teaching me how to play this game - it's the coolest group of people that I have ever been involved with in sports..well except for Gomez...but that kind of goes without saying...
