HUGE THANKS to the title sponsor of the GSSS fifth and final year - Bill Thornton!

Bill as most of you know is a huge sponsor of most Events in the ATL (and any area he is living around) and has been a big help with Flyboy also.

His support of the Series is truly appreciated.

Going forward the Series name will now be The GSSS presented by Bill Thornton.

Stay tuned to http://www.supersixseries.com and the 2012 GSSS info thread on this site for all the latest info.

There are several changes in 2012 for the 5th and final year of the Series listed below.

1) There will be 6 PDGA Sanctioned C-Tier Events roughly 4-6 weeks apart with the first Event starting in MARCH (no FEB Valentine week / non-daylight saving time Events in 2012).

2) All six Event signup will begin on DEC 1st, 2011 and run through Jan 31st, 2012 or until 22 spots are sold whichever comes first.

3) The first Event of the Series Finale will be at North Georgia Canopy Tours on March 17th, 2012 (with a limit of 54 players in 3 somes which worked extremely well in the OCT 2011 Event)

4) The Series Finale Event will be back at Lake Russell Sept 8 & 9th, 2012. (remember you can book Cottages or Campsites already)
Lake Russell informed me already that fees are going up in 2012 from $2 per person for the Event weekend to $3 per person PER DAY ($6 total per player) which is NOT negotiable, causing the entry fee for that Event to be $5 higher.
I enjoy the location and experience too much to give up running Events there, so I must pass along some of the charges to the players as Tee sign sponsorships alone can no longer cover the State fees (which will total $432 for a full field)

5) There will be no Event at White Oak (replaced by NGCT location).

To allow even better player planning, the individual signup windows are 6-7 weeks in advance for each Event.

GSSS Event #1 - MAR 17th - 2nd Annual Zip Line Open @ NGCT - Lula, GA - Individual Event signup begins FEB 4th, 2012
GSSS Event #2 - APR 14th - Haywood Valley DGC (PRIVATE COURSE) - Rome, GA - Individual Event signup begins MAR 9th, 2012
GSSS Event #3 - MAY 12th - McCurry Park - Fayetteville, GA - Individual Event signup begins APR 6th, 2012
GSSS Event #4 – JUN 23rd - Meeks Park – Blairsville, GA - Individual Event signup begins MAY 4th, 2012
GSSS Event #5 – AUG 11th - Wills Park – Alpharetta, GA - Individual Event signup begins JUN 15th, 2012
GSSS Event #6 – SEPT 8-9th - 14th Annual Lake Russell Open – Elberton, GA - Individual Event signup begins AUG 3rd, 2012

You can also find all the GSSS merchandise including Hats, Collared Dry Fit shirts, Towels, etc. as well as discs with the GSSS logo on them by picking up your merchandise wherever you see me playing disc golf (Tournaments and Doubles).

Thanks to all who have been a part of the Series in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 - and if you missed out in the first 4 years, YOU CAN FIND OUT WHAT THE GSSS IS ABOUT IN THE 5th AND FINAL YEAR 2012!

Some of the changes that took place in the past to make your SERIES experience better continue in 2012.

The 50/50 basket raffle for each Event continues in 2012. Tickets can be purchased for $1 each, 4 for $3 or 8 for $5. There is NO LIMIT to the amount of tickets purchased. All monies collected at each Event will be split 50/50 with the winning number getting half of all the monies collected, and the other share going to the GSSS Charity for 2012 - The EDGE Program. In 2011 the winners’ share of the 50/50 kitty was worth over 70 bucks on average at each Event!

5 tickets will be drawn at each Event with prizes awarded to each of the 5 (last one drawn wins the 50/50 kitty) and each of those 5 tickets will kept for the drawing at the end of the Series for a Sportcatcher basket! There will be a 1 in 30 chance to win the basket as in the past, plus a great chance to win some extra cash or goodies at each Event.
Seeing that all GSSS CTPS are always free and not buy-in, you can take your normal 3-10 dollars usually spent on CTP buy-ins and spend it on Raffle tickets.
The money raised for EDGE during the Series will be returning to Georgia and be committed to GROWING Disc Golf in Georgia Schools and Parks.

There will be no changes to the Series Points Bonus payouts, and you will still need to only play in 3 of the first 5 Events to qualify for the payouts. There were 30+ people that took advantage and qualified in 2011.

Hey Keith,

If I sign up for one division for all six events now but decide to change divisions for a tournament down the line would I just pay/get reimbursed the difference? IE if I were to sign up advanced for all six events but wanted to play a tournament later in the year in OPEN. Would I pay you the difference for that tournament? How does this work? Thanks!

Yes - It happens every year that people switch divisions as they improve over the year - just sign up for the division you want, and if/when you decide to play another division, we can deal with the prices during that particular Event - you can (and others have) even go back and forth between divisions (if ratings allow). Please ust notify a week or so in advance, so that I can update the spreadsheet and print your card out with the division you will be in.

This is also why I have the points info about changing divisions so that no one "feels" locked into a particular division for the entire Series.

The hotstamp will also be on at least 10-20 Innova models, and I'll also have the GSSS mini hotstamp log on several other models to give everyone a WIDER selection of things to choose from in this final year of the GSSS.

It is going to be a prize packed year, Zanfel is already back on board as a sponsor of all 6 Events in 2012 - and lots more prizes and surprises will be coming everyone's way as it gets closer to the start of the Series!

I'll have information on models and prices up for your holiday shopping as soon as I hear back from the 3 companies.

Keith, not sure if you are aware of it, but I can print those GSSS discs for you on demand on any disc any color in my shop, I can even do separate ones for each event and can do trophy discs for you also, can do the minis also.

You could even do a totally different disc for each event.

The course will be setup in Event configuration for the 3rd Sunday Doubles on FEB 19th which starts at NOON at North Georgia Canopy Tours for anyone who wishes to practice the course for Event #1, to be held on MARCH 17th.

The improvements to the tee of 5, and the relocation of 14's tee will take place this Sunday if all goes well.

The special players pack items are being made and the special gifts for the all 6 signups will soon be arriving as the first Event is only 8 short weeks from tomorrow!

Improvements to tee 5 were completed along with the relocation and lowering of the tee for 14.

There is now a 4 foot buffer AFTER the 12 foot deck on the tee of 5 along with the sides and behind the tee backfilled with dirt and 2-5 inches of gravel making it approachable from any angle with no fears of having to stop short on the pad.

14 was relocated to make the shot more of how it was originally envisioned of being a slight turnover "s" shot.

Come out on FEB 19th for the 3rd Sunday doubles to see the changes and practicce for the 1st GSSS Event.

Some of the exciting news for the 5th and Final year will include that EACH Event will have raffles, 50/50 and CTP throwoffs with valuable prizes such as CASH, 50 dollar vouchers, and a BASKET to be given away at ALL 6 Events plus the one that somone who has the winning raffle ticket with the 1 in 30 chance will win not only the sportcatcher basket, but also a bag and a set of discs to go with it this year.

The players packs for the first Event (which ALL players will get for this 1st Event) have arrived and I think everyone will be happy with it.

The discs will be here in a couple of weeks - shirts, hats and other goodies are in the works - hopefully the players will turn out to have a great time.

You will not want to miss any of the exciting action (as well as the Disc Golf) that will be happening in this jam packed (6 Events in less than 6 months) final year!

As of now there are only 41 spots left for Event #1 when the individual Event sale begins on FEB 4th at MIDNITE!!

Event #2 at the Haywood Valley Disc Golf Course (Wes Campbell's and The Campbell Family private Course) goes on sale in a little over 5 days.

This Par 61 beautiful piece of DiscGolf is only set up a few times a year and it is not to be missed.

BBQ lunch and one of a kind hot dogs will again be available for lunch so you all can relax and enjoy the beautiful spring weather.

Spots go on sale this FRIDAY March 9th at MIDNIGHT!

The 30 Qualifiers after 4 Events for the GSSS Points Bonus are shown below.

10 more players played their 3rd Event at Meeks and the REC field had the new top 4 players all make their 3rd Event.

Amazingly with 36 unique players in ADV - only 1 has played all 4 Events and there are 5 more who played their 2nd Event at Meeks - looks to be a decent Series bonus payout for Wes if those 5 don't play Wills. :shock:

You MUST play in 3 of the first 5 Events to Qualify for the points bonus.
There are 22 players who have 2 Events in the books and can still get a piece of the GSSS bonus payout pie tm by playing in Event # 5 at Wills.

Event #5 at Wills Park is the last qualifier for the Series points bonus and as of this moment there are 34 spots left.

Paying at least 50% in each division and dollar amount shown is percentage of "GSSS payout pie" tm to player in top half. Those that played all 5 get 100% of payout, those that played 4 get 80% and those that played 3 get 60% of "GSSS payout pie" tm

Pro Divisions will be paid in cash - Am Divisions in Merchandise.
REC had largest #'s of total players (76) but no players getting 100% of "GSSS payout pie" tm
Only 4 of 7 winners of the points battle had all 5 Events played.
The INT guys were the big winners as only 2 of the 4 qualifiers (50%) played in all 5 Events therefore getting all of the 230 merch dollars in their "pie".
Dollar and Childs made their 3rd appearances count as they both moved past Matlack for 1st and 2nd with Matlack not playing Event #5.

All players in red will be given their vouchers or cash when they check-in at Lake Russell SAT morning.
Those players in red are entered for Lake Russell and MUST collect their bonus prizes SATURDAY after the second round scoring is done.
Tim Bell and Gabriel Foster (the 2 REC players in for LR) MUST cash in their Vouchers for GSSS Merchandise on SAT before I leave for the day - NO EXCEPTIONS!

Any player listed below that is not entered for LR can have someone pick up their Voucher or cash at Check-in ONLY if they have let me know by E-mail or PM
(so I have written proof) - NO EXCEPTIONS!

Anyone who hasn't collected by SAT Morning at Check-in will be notified by the contact info from their signup forms to make arraignments sometime during SEPT.

5th and Final Year of the GSSS wrap up.

HUGE THANKS to the title sponsor of the GSSS fifth and final year - Bill Thornton!

Over 5 years and 31 Events later (BONUS GSSS Event was held at Lula in OCT 2011) and it is now OFFICIALLY over, as PDGA has been paid and TD Report is being sent to HQ.

It started in 2008 at GA's famed (and looks like never to be again course) the CRUCIBLE and ended every year at Lake Russell during the traditional weekend after Labor Day.
It included 30 C-tiers and an A-tier in 2010 at the Supersized Central Park Course (RIP).
It included several courses over the years in the Metro ATL Area as well as one in Augusta - with only 2 courses being in all 5 years Series (McCurry and Lake Russell).
Several courses used GSSS Holes, teepads or ideas in their permanent layouts over the course of 5 years and EVERY Event (except the Bonus GSSS Event) Sold out either before or during check-in which I'm extremely proud to say could not have been done without YOU, (the players) who enjoyed playing in them or wanting to see what all the fuss was about.
Several GSSS Event ideas have been used in other local Events, and several courses, loads ofTD's and other great things in the area have happened over the 5 year time frame that the GSSS existed.

Over all the Events there were only 4-5 total rounds out of over 70 rounds in 5 years that had rain, and only 3-4 other rounds that had rain for a few holes during the round - which is amazing considering that the Events were spread over 7 months of the year each year.

Thanks to all the amazing sponsors who helped support the Series over the years including WES Campbell who was there with a CASH donation EVERY year on top of the Sponsorship credits in vending over the years.
Also a huge supporter over most of the Series was GREG Campbell who did Sponsorship credits in vending over several Events each year.
Without their help and support the Series would not have been as successful.

I'm glad to have met and played with all of the fine ATL area people over the time I've been in GA (almost 7 years now) and with playing less and less Events going forward (Only playing in 10 this year, (instead of the 30+ I've played pretty much my whole career except a few years in the 17 years of playing) and running only a couple of Events each year - I will miss seeing alot of you guys and gals on the courses, but my support of the sport and my involvement in reading about it EVERY DAY will keep me in the loop vicariously through all of you!

I look forward to seeing everyone in 2013 at Lake Russell - be safe and thanks for the 2008-2012 GSSS Memories and I look forward to creating new ones for the 15th Annual LRO SEPT 7-8th, 2013 and 3rd Annual Zip Line Open on the weekend of OCT 19th, 2013!!
