Everything will be in the long position for the tournament. The par for 20 holes will be 63 (Three par four holes).

The length is right at 6200 ft.

I want to defend Grease here. Yes, in the middle of the night, a few summers back, we had a wild and crazy party at my house after the Monty Dubs. Grease vaulted down the stairs, around the corner, and onto my basement floor, yes, this is true; however, to say that he fell is innacurate. He actually stepped into the air above my stairs because he thought he was staggering into the bathroom.

And he had been imbibing heavily all night.

Actually, I don't care about defending him. I just want to take a stab.

Randy and I would play in a Pro Masters if offered.
But I do think there are too many divisions being played for an unsancationed tourney. I say just Open and Advanced would be fine and actually make for a better tourney. It is doubles and two low rated players that compliment each other can take down two high rated players that contradict each other.
That's why Team Absinthe is taking their averaged Int. rating UP to Advanced.

I mostly agree with you, except I can't agree that there should only be two. There are guys coming who would have no hope against the few that might stay advanced instead of playing up. Some of the rec or Int folks that are coming are truly rec and intermediate, and that's where they want to play.

I can offer to consolidate, but I don't think many of the Rec skill set/int guys would want to come if I did.

I have a friend from Augusta that may bring a team to the tourney. The pre-registration list shows 18 teams (36 players). How many teams/players fills the tourney? Updated list?

The list is updated in the top post and on the "Deer Ridge" course thread. There are 3-4 other teams that I know of that may or may not show up. Several usually do show up at the tournament who I didn't know was coming.

I guess filling up would be 36 teams. I seriously doubt we'll get near that number, as in our previous 9 tournaments at the Monty, the most in attendance has been 30---something like 5 times. We've had 12 teams a few times. I'm hopeful that this time we'll have more than that number. We've never had Augustans come up, so that would be good.

It's been said before, but a big fat giant thanks to Grease, who's covered payout for 7 doubles tournaments and 2 singles tournaments at the Monty. He hasn't always made that much cash here, so I know he doesn't come here for that reason. Thanks, Greasy.

Also, Brian Lang is a person without whose help the tournament could not run. He always quietly helps with organization, as he did yesterday right when we needed him to. Plus, he's occasionally the TD himself.

Thanks Wookie and Josh for yet again helping to carve out a new section of course! Only a few more areas to go...

Thanks Mike for your willingness to step in to keep this thing going. Also thanks for getting your friends involved.

Sooooo... for those pitching for fewer divisions, I think this speaks for itself. The winner in advanced would not have cashed in open. The winner in Intermediate would not have cashed in Advanced. We did away with the rec division, which was likely the right move.

With donations, course fund, and thanks to no one hitting an ace, we made 103 bucks, which will likely be applied to new baskets for the new holes.

If you combined both pro & adv divisions, it would make a total of 14 teams.
Good ole boys would have taken 4th place (thus cashing).
I'm thinking payouts would be at least 50% deep making a 3 way tie for last cash for the teams that shot 111 as their final score.
This is the way I look at it. Maybe I'm wrong?

Ok, let me try again----I like that a good percentage of the field cashed, which for any tournament, is a draw. I'd rather have big divisions, fewer divisions, but what I'd really rather is to have people learn how awesome this course/tournament is and come---like they did this time, 16 more folks than we've ever had---and fill up the divisions that we do have. I won't ever push for more divisions; rather, I want people to sign up for the division they think they should be in, then go from there. I don't have it set in stone before the tournament what divisions we will have, but let the field decide by signing up.

In other words, those that want big divisions for better payout, I think we'll get there---some day. B tier? Maybe after we get 60 or so for the next Middle Georgia Championship...
