Cherokee County Meals On Wheels! The 2010 Cold Snake Classic players donated a total of $242 on Monday, 6 Dec 2010 to the Cherokee County Director of Senior Services.

Toys for Tots: 32 toys collected and another $45 to buy more toys delivered Thursday!!!

Cherokee County Senior Services: Over $100 worth of food was donated by Greg Guttinger and was delivered to the Senior Center on Wednesday. This food goes into a pantry so that when case workers find that a senior is in need of food, they can help them out!

I will try to have the course up in the Tournament Configuration starting Thanksgiving Morning or Friday. Friday and Saturday I will be at the course from 9am-1pm for course maintenance. I know there is action & other workdays at other courses so any help is appreciated. I hope to have the O/B line for hole 14 placed and I will have the rest of the standard O/B posted on the bulletin board (unless I forget). I now there are questions about hole 14 and the new hole behind it that we made on the other side of the lake. I will make a post next week on the course configuration as I would like to play 19 holes.

Course notes: So the course is basically set up for the tourney. The basket from the "new hole" on the other side of the pond from 14 has been moved back to 14A. We hope to have a new anchor (14c) on original 14 installed soon. Phil is supposed to donate a basket to the park. If we get this basket we will have the new hole (on the other side of the pond) cleaned up and basket installed and play 19 holes. If not we will play the original 18 holes.......



WORK DAY AT THE SAC:

Friday the 26th and Saturday 27 Nov: 9am - 12noon with doubles or what ever after clean up.

Fri/Sat work days went well. Cleaned up many holes to include finishing up the new hole after 14.

Big thanks to CJ, Tyler, Jared, Vosey, Tim, Steve S. and The Animal for working on the course this weekend.

Phil will donate the use of his practice basket so that we can play 19 holes for the two rounds. This will be set up Sunday morning. We will be moving orig 14 from A to C position tomorrow and it will play in this position for the tourney. We will be building some steps on the left side about pin hi during the week to make it easier to navigate when wet.

I'll get the ob line down around the marshy area between these two holes this week....

After five minutes of blowing off the leaves I found my disc 10 feet to the left of the first big tree. It was very tempting to stop at this point and head over to #6 where I'm certain my yellow star valk is hiding. Alas, I didn't want anyone in the tourney to go through the unproductive search that I did on Sunday, so I spent the next two hours (and 1.75 tanks of gas) finishing #4.

I'd be up for clearing #6 as well, but would need another volunteer with another commercial-grade machine to get this done. Send me a PM if there's anyone out there that wants to help take on that beast. -ChrisF

I'm not sure if your blowing leaves off to the side or not. Blowing leaves to the sides of fairways only create longer searches. We are experienced with this as it was done one year and held up many groups

If you are "removing" the leaves and dragging them out of site out of mind...thats fine

The anchor (long) for the new hole on the other side of 14 was set by the animal early this week and will be ready for tourney play sunday.....for now it has Pink tape on it tied up hi to a tree (easy vern). Make sure if you play this before the tourney to get a feel for it as the basket will not go in until tourney morning. Remember orig 14 is in the C position too.

okay....There might be an adjustment to the course.

After walking the new hole with Phil, we agree 3/4 trees would need to come down to make the true flight path needed for a pure run. With that said, below is what to expect in the morning:

A. Play as advertised.
B. play the sac the way we know 1-18.

I am leaning to option B as the new hole will slow up play, bring orig 14 back to the A position for a fun ace run, get home quicker, and the falcons were bumped to a 4:15 start time

Thanks.....It is very cool to run a tourney in our area of the woods because so many disc golfers look forward to this tournament. Over the years I have learned it almost runs by its self....lol Thank goodness for our "old school" disc golfers that have paved the way.... you know who you are and as time goes on so will this tournament. We have raised so many dollars for different reasons and continue to bring in toys for our beloved USMCR Toys for Tots program, everyone should get that warm fuzzy feeling. Not sure how many disc golfers recvd toys for tots when they were kids.....but we are making many children very happy on the 25th of Decemeber!!! Thanks a million to those that continue to contribute!

Although Chappy took a year off due to work commitments, we should see him return next year. I will work up all the numbers in the morning, afternoon, or evening as I need to spend some quality with mamma-son!!!!
