What the %^#$% is WORKS????
1 round of 18 / 5-7 Players
The Competition:
Low Round Score
- Par and over worth $4
- Under par worth $6
- Under par and bogey free worth $8
In the event of a tie, playoff continues until all paid positions determined. Sides not in effect. Ace/Double Dot(minus dots) rules in effect.
Payout:
5 players - Leader paid by 3. 2nd is no-pay.
6 players - Leader paid by 3. 2nd paid by 1.
7 players - Leader paid by 4. 2nd paid by 1.
Skins - $0.50 each
- 3 or less skins carried after 18 holes, skins dropped.
- 4 skins or more carried after 18 holes, all players continue, skins accumulate until won.
Membership (Bogey-free)
- Through 18 (Still a member) worth $1 - each member
- Under 18 (Last member) still worth $1- No ties; Membership determined by order of finish when lost on the same hole.
Sides:
Clots (CTP-Closest To Pin): 1 each of 18, cumulative leader worth $1, tie splits.
FIBs (First In Basket): 1 each of 18, cumulative leader worth $1, tie splits.
Dots (Basket or above on birdie try): cumulative leader worth $1, tie splits.
- Double Dot (Basket or above on the drive) worth $2, 2 dots
- Ace worth $10, no dots
Side bets to coerce foolish play is encouraged. i.e. "2 & 5" for that ridiculous run at the basket that results in a bogey will pay $2 for basket and above and $5 for the 'make'. Any and all side bets are insta-pay.
Crucial: Constantly reminding the leader in a none-to-subtle-manner that they are in fact in the lead is encouraged. (The leader may not work his underlings unless in direct retort to afore mentioned heckling.)
Payout: Each loser pays Winner and Runner-up full amount according to rate schedule. i.e. $4, $6 or $8.
All players pay each Sides winner according to worth.
Total paid by complete loser(not winner, not runner-up, no skins, not a member and not Clot, Dot or FIB leader) with no aces, no double dots and winner under par, bogey free and last member would be $21.00 ($8 for the round, $9 for skins, $1 for Membership, $1 for Clots, $1 for FIBs, $1 for Dots). Of course, if skins continue, add those and any Aces or Double Dots that occur.
Play starts on hole 10. (Smoke'em if you got'em.)
Flip mini's(ONLY) to determine starting order.
Since I have the time.....
Play proceeds normally. The difference comes in how you score and the strict attention to who is 'out'. Every hole is worth one skin and each skin is worth $0.50. A skin is awarded when one player scores better than all other players on the hole. Any skin not won carries forward until a player wins a hole outright and collects that skin and all that have carried forward to that point. CTP and FIB(first in basket) is recorded for each. Thus the importance of who is 'out'. Every Dot is recorded as well. A Dot is 'awarded' when a player's birdie putt hits basket or above but does not stay in. A Double Dot is for basket and above on a tee-shot, is recorded as 2 Dots and is also worth $2. Aces are worth $10 but no dots (because it stayed in the basket). Membership is revoked when a player scores a bogey or worse. Membership after 18 holes are completed is worth $1 to each member. In the case of two or more players losing membership on the same hole with both being last to do so, Last Member is the one who reaches the bogey score last. Again, the importance of who is 'out' comes in to play.
Also, if after 18 holes are played and 4 or more skins remain, the entire group continues until the skins are won with each additional hole worth an additional skin. Accumulation of FIBs, Clots and Dots stops after the original 18 and are no longer recorded, but Double Dots are still worth $2 and Aces are still worth $10.
If after the original 18, 2 or more players are tied for the lead or tied for runner-up, only those players continue until the finishing order is determined. Again, accumulation of FIBs, Clots and Dots stops and are no longer recorded, Double Dots are still worth $2 and Aces are still worth $10 but only paid by the continuing players. It is possible that this playoff be simultaneous with a 'skin' playoff which also means Double Dots and Aces are paid by all.
With all that, let's look at what happened here:Woodrow 49(-5) Winner, paid by 3($24.00)
1 skin($0.50), Last Member - Still a Member($1), 4 Clot - 1 off Clot lead, 2 FIB - 3 off FIB lead, 1 Dot - 3 off Dot lead
worth $1.50, +$19.51 total
Matlack 51(-3) 2 off lead, no-pay
8 skins($4.00), Not a Member after 16, 5 Clot - co-Clot leader($0.50), 5 FIB - FIB leader($1.00), 4 Dot - co-Dot leader($0.33)
worth $5.88, +$17.16 total
Moose 52(-2) 3 off lead, pays $8.00
3 skins($1.50), Not a Member after 1, 3 Clot - 2 off Clot lead, 4 FIB - 1 off FIB lead, 3 Dot - 1 off Dot lead
worth $1.50, -$12.49 total
Plotky 54(E) 5 off Lead, pays $8.00
2 skins($1.00), Not a Member after 4, 1 Clot - 4 off Clot lead, 4 FIB - 1 off FIB lead, 4 Dot - co-Dot leader($0.33)
worth $1.33, -$13.34 total
Carlos 56(+2) 7 off lead, pays $8.00
2 skins($1.00), Not a Member after 5, 5 Clot - co-Clot leader($0.50), 3 FIB - 2 off FIB lead, 4 Dot - co-Dot leader($0.33)
worth $1.88, -$10.84 total
2 skins dropped.
Woodrow finished with a 49; low score and outright winner under par and bogey free. He was also still a Member. He had 4 CTPs, 2 FIBs and 1 Dot during the round and won 1 skin. He's worth $1.50 ($1 for membership and $0.50 for the skin).
Matlack finished with a 51; runner-up and under par. He lost Membership on the 16th hole. He had 5 CTPs and tied for the CTP lead, had 5 FIBs and was FIB leader, had 4 Dots and in a 3-way tie for Dot leader, and won 8 skins. He's worth $5.83 ($0.50 for Clots, $1 for FIBs, $0.33 for Dots and $4 for skins).
Moose finished with a 52 and lost Membership on the 1st hole (Doh!). He had 3 CTPs, 4 FIBs, 3 Dots and won 3 skins. He's worth $1.50 (for the skins).
Plotky finished with a 54 and lost Membership on the 4th hole. He had 1 CTP, 4 FIBs, 4 Dots and in a 3-way tie for Dot leader, and won 2 skins. He's worth $1.33 ($0.33 for Dots and $1 for the skins).
Carlos finished with a 56 and lost Membership on the 5th hole. He had 5 CTPs and tied for the CTP lead, had 3 FIBs, 4 Dots and in a 3-way tie for Dot leader, and won 2 skins. He's worth $1.83 ($0.50 for Clots, $0.33 for Dots and $1 for skins).
No one won the skins for the last 2 holes, so those were dropped.
The payout went like this:
Woodrow paid Matlack $4.33 for Sides ($5.83-$1.50), was paid $8 for the game by Moose and $0 for Sides ($1.50-$1.50), was paid $8 for the game by Plotky and $0.17 for Sides ($1.50-$1.33), was paid $8 for the game by Carlos and paid Carlos $0.33 for Sides ($1.83-$1.50).
Total = $19.51 (-$4.33+$8+$8+$0.17+$8-$0.33)
Matlack was paid $4.33 by Woodrow for Sides ($5.83-$1.50), was paid $4.33 by Moose for Sides ($5.83-$1.50), was paid $4.50 by Plotky for Sides ($5.83-$1.33), was paid $4 by Carlos for Sides ($5.83-$1.83).
Total = $17.16 (+$4.33+$4.33+$4.50+$4)
Moose paid Woodrow $8 for the game and $0 for Sides ($1.50-$1.50), paid Matlack $4.33 for Sides ($5.83-$1.50), was paid $0.17 by Plotky for Sides ($1.50-$1.33), paid Carlos $0.33 for Sides ($1.83-$1.50).
Total = -$12.49 (-$8-$4.33+$0.17-$0.33)
Plotky paid Woodrow $8 for the game and $0.17 for Sides ($1.50-$1.33), paid Matlack $4.50 for Sides ($5.83-$1.33), paid Moose $0.17 for Sides ($1.50-$1.33), paid Carlos $0.50 for Sides ($1.83-$1.33).
Total = -$13.34 (-$8-$0.17-$4.50-$0.17-$0.50)
Carlos paid Woodrow $8 for the game was paid $0.33 by Woodrow for Sides ($1.83-$1.50), paid Matlack $4.00 for Sides ($5.83-$1.83), was paid $0.33 by Moose for Sides ($1.83-$1.50), was paid $0.50 by Plotky for Sides ($1.83-$1.33).
Total = -$10.84 (-$8+$0.33-$4+$0.33+$0.50)
It all balances: +$19.51(Woodrow) + $17.16(Matlack) - $12.49(Moose) - $13.34(Plotky) - $10.84(Carlos) = $0.00
So, in conclusion, you can see that skins is where the real money is, sides can be as important as overall score and finishing bogey free is key. Also, bring some change and plenty of small bills.
Here endith the lesson.
Here's a simpler version that will also be on the reverse of your scorecard.billnchristy wrote:Unrolls score-scroll to check rule 17.b.11.2.iii to ensure payout is exactly $14.53.

If you provide the extra eight anchors, concrete, and manpower to make it happen then this idea can be done! But once again you would need to provide eight original Mach III anchors that cannot be purchased online and must be special made+ concrete + manpower....OR you could dig up some of the more unlikable pin placements (too many to list) and bust off the concrete on those, then dig some new holes where the freshly purchased (fabricated, dug) anchors would need to be (ask Woody on that one...), add new concrete (which you would have to provide), and MAKE SURE THOSE BASKETS ARE AT REGULATION HEIGHT! (because we don't like missing putts on unregulated baskets)and Then watch the magic happen!
Or you could come to realization that while this idea might work the most simple thing to do would be for others to provide temporary baskets. Afterall it is just for the day.
