Oregon Park Ace Race on September 18, 2010

The Cobb Disc Golf Club has scheduled our 4th Annual Ace Race at Oregon Park on September 18, 2010.

A lot of people have told me recently how much fun they had at last year's Oregon Park Ace Race. Don't be left out of the fun this year!

Our TDs can add information to this thread as they like.

Paypal registration is now available online at http://cobbdiscgolf.com. No need to browse into the site this time: the Buy Now button is right near the top of the front page. Or if you don't want to use Paypal you can preregister by giving your name and money to the TD at one of our Tuesday or Thursday Doubles events or the First Saturday Singles event on Sept. 4. If you hand your money off in person, make sure the TD has your name written down for the Ace Race. We have to order the discs in advance, and only your two preordered Ace Race discs, paid for with your $25 registration fee, are allowed in the competition. We'll probably allow walk-up registrations like we did last year, but we don't want to run out of discs because too many people failed to preregister. Don't get saddled with camera duty because we ran out of discs before you walked up the day of the event!

So far we have somewhere between 15-20 preregistrations for the Ace Race. We've decided to get ambitious, so we're ordering 100 player's packs for this gig. For anyone not familiar, the Ace Race player's pack from Discraft includes two prototype discs (rumor is they're somewhat like a Stalker this year) and a high quality baseball cap. I lost my Discraft hat some time back in the Spring, but I was wearing it all the time.

Please continue to preregister in person or online if it's convenient, as this will help us get a feel for how many people we should expect. Walk-ups are welcome as well, so don't let anything stop you from joining us.

Oregon Park Ace Race Details

$25 registration fee, 31 holes

8:30 - Registration starts
10:00 - First round begins
1:00 - Approximate time for 2nd round
3:00 - Approximate time for Results and Ring of Fire winner announced

Side action:
1.) Full cash payout raffle $2 = 1 ticket, $5 = 6 tickets, $10 = 13 tickets
2.) $50 Ace pot - $1 a ticket, take an ace shot from the building to a basket a little past the 100 sign.
If someone hits it they win $50.
3.) Ring of fire - Free for all to enter.

Yes, Tournament central will be located at the old swingtime. The new course has NOT been finalized yet so there is no map of that. However, here is a map of the Ace Race layout. Click to enlarge.

Yes two rounds of 31. With only 1 shot per hole it shouldn't take too long.

There is usually an additional round of action (optional) afterward. You may need the sleeping bag for that.

I think it took til well after 6 last year with 19...

I guess we will see.

Last year there were three rounds and lunch went a little long and it took about an hour after to compile scores for some reason. We also waited on many holes. With 31 holes the players should be spread out and not have to wait making play move quickly!

You are right that it should move with some spacing between groups and we won't have to hear Christy yelling "Move your child!"

I don't believe it will be this year. There are several places nearby to get food.

Discs are in and we already have 50+ people pre-registered!

We ended up with 94 registrations! This includes three who paid for the pack but couldn't play (I was one of those). I don't know how many total aces we had on the day, but I got one of them on video and have posted it on Youtube, as well as on our tournament page on the Disc Golf Scene website. Mike E. is going to send me the list of results of the Ace Race later today, and I'm planning to post that around the internet as well.
