I was born in Bradenton, but we lived all over Florida up and down the coast till we settled down in Jacksonville. My dad was in the navy so we moved alot.

If your lucky Dan will let the recs play from the teepads . Jp Moseley is a great course and is getting better and better with time. I wouldnt wanna miss it come on out play a round and get signed up.

Two seperate tournaments on the same course. I'm happy that Rand has choosen JPM for this years Fright Flight. One of the most successful and fun tournaments of the year, it is eargley looked forward too and always provides lasting memories. A great day of competitive team golf put on by one of the state's highest tournament director. Conversley, The Briar Valley Horror will be played on Halloween and will be a classic single's event. Five months away and it is not too early to mark these two events on your calender. Halloween weekend plan on being at JP Moseley Park-the fall is one of it's best colors.

I plan on playing in both events and I encourage others to do also.

For the life of me I have no idea what you're talking about.

We (Wade and myself) expect the tourney discs in about two-three weeks time. Somewhat valid DX rocs with a totally valid BVH stamp that makes them scary cool.

I've kept the entrance fees really approachable considering it is a sanctioned event, plus tee signs are only 15 bucks! Have you seen the artwork for the sponsored tees? -Round One Tee Time: 9:20am sharp!
-Lunch:Immediately after the completion of the first round (1 hour approx)
-Round Two Tee Time:TBD (1.0 hour for lunch remains after last card is turned in)
-Awards Cermony: Approx. 30 mins after last card is turned in for round two.

Layout:

-Pro, Advanced, and Intermediate fields will play all Gold Tees except for Black 13
-All Rec divisions will play Blue's
-Novice/Juniors will play Red's

JP Moseley Park:

You are OB if you are surrounded by water in any of the creeks that make their way throughout the course.

The walking paths play as creeks. Completely surrounded by asphalt is OB.
Exceptions to that rule are tee #’s 9 (gold), 11 (gold) and 13 (black)

Hole by Hole:

Hole 1-636ft. par 4: Going over or on the walking path to the right of the hole is OB. The gold tee is by the utility shed in between the football and baseball fields. Blue tee is the 6X12 concrete slab. red tee is approx. 50 ft. in front of blue.

Hole 2-189ft. par 3: Quite possibly the easiest hole on the course. Multiple routes. All tees are on the 6X12 concrete slab.

Hole 3-298ft. par 3:: Remeniscent of hole #12 at the Ant farm, except in this case there is a more defined route. Hit the line and it will consistently yeild a par or better. Gold and Blue tees are on the 6X12 concrete slab. Red tee is approx. 60 ft. in front of gold/blue.

Hole 4- 276ft. par 3: Quite possibly the most difficult of the woods holes a sidearm or left handed shot might be your best bet. Going over or on the walking path to the right of the hole is OB. Par here is a great score allthough a birdie can be had here as well. Gold tee is the 6X12 concrete slab. The blue tee is 60 ft. ahead of the gold. red tee is 40 ft. in front of red.

Hole 5-260ft. par 3: An intimidating shot off the tee. Hit the straight line and you should be golden. Gold tee is down the path behind the 6x12 concrete slab on the 5X10 concrete slab. Blue and red tees are on the 6X12 concrete slab.

Hole 6- 251ft. par 3; An anhyzer if there ever was such a one. Be right of the two trees that are split on the left hand side of the fairway to set up the par/birdie run. Gold and blue tees are on the 6X12 concrete slab. The red tee is 40 ft. in front of gold/blue.

Hole 7-330ft. par 3: Stay in the fairway! the basket is approx. 300ft. downhill and then to the right just inside the the treeline. No OB on this hole. The gold tee is on the 6X12 concrete slab. the blue tee is 75ft. in front of gold. The red tee is 70 ft. in front of blue.

Hole 8-940ft. par 5: The first of the par 5's. This hole features three distinct landing zones. Of all the shots that you could throw on this hole the most important is your drive. Avoid the Frog Pond located just before the small clumps of trees 250 ft. off the gold tee. Completely surounded by rocks while being inside the frog pond is OB <--If you are touching any one of the border rocks you are in bounds! Surrounded by asphalt on the walking path is OB. Surrounded by water in either of the two creeks is OB. Going on or beyond the walking path behind 8's basket is OB. Gold tee is on the 6X12 concrete slab by the sun shelter approx. 200 ft. to the right of 7's pin. Blue tee is just to the right of the frog pond (150 ft. behind 7's pin). Red tee is approx. 175 ft. in front of blue tee.

Hole 9-956ft. par 5: Your second par 5 of the day features a Mando that must be passed to the right of in order to complete the hole (The Mando is approx. 450 ft. in front of gold tee) . The gold teepad is on the walking path where the path goes over the creek. The Blue tee is the 6X12 concrete slab. The red tee is 100 ft. in front of blue. There is a drop zone marked by flags for those throws that miss the mando. The large sewer cap is 256 ft. from the pin. Frog pond#2 (approx 100-120 ft. short of pin) is marked by rocks and plays OB if you are completely surrounded by the rocks that mark the pond <--If you are touching any of the border rocks that mark the frog pond you are in bounds! Walking path also plays as a creek-completely surrounded by asphalt is OB (excluding tee). Going over the silt fence is not OB. On or exceeding the walking path behind the pin is OB.

Hole 10-443ft. par 3 : Double mando off of tee (gold). Automatic re-tee for missing mando's. On or over walking path is OB. The gold tee is the 6X12 concrete slab. The blue tee is 70 ft. in front of the gold. the red tee is 50 ft. in front of the blue.

Hole11-308ft. par3: Island hole (Skull Island) You are OB if you do not land on the green that is surrounded by rocks. If you are touching a rock you are in bounds! If your drive touches a rock but then proceeds to not rest on the green or on a rock marking the boundary of the green you are OB, proceed to drop zone. To fully qualify it must meet the following criteria: on the green surrounded by rocks; coming to rest on one of the boundary rocks. For missed drives: proceed to the drop zone with a 1 stroke penalty. Missed shots from the drop zone will incur one stroke penalties untill a successful green shot has been completed. Gold tee is on the walking path near the bench. Blue tee is the 6X12 concrete slab. The red tee is approx. 80 ft. in front of blue.

Hole 12-501ft. par 3: On or over walking path is OB. Gold tee is on the 6X12 concrete slab. the blue tee is 80 ft. in front of gold. The red tee is 80 ft. in front of blue.

Hole 13-1082ft. par 5: Over the fence on the right hand side is OB. Over the creek (behind the basket) is OB. In the creek surrounded by water is OB. Surrounded by asphalt is OB. On or exceeding the walking path by 9's teepad is OB. The black tee on the walking path at the top of the hill that is nearly parallel to blue's tee. Landing in 12's fairway is not OB. Blue tee is on the 6X12 concrete slab. Red tee is approx. 200 ft. in front of blue on the left hand side of the fairway.

Hole 14-308 ft. par3: This hole features a split fairway. There is no OB on this hole. Gold and blue tee from the 6X12 concrete slab.

Hole 15-285 ft. par 3: Straight then slight hyzer. Gold and blue tee from the concrete slab. Red tee is approx. 80 ft. in front of gold/blue.

Hole 16-259ft. par 3: This hole also features several options for reaching the basket. There is no OB on this hole. Gold and blue tee from the 6X12 concrete slab. red tee is 50 ft. in front of gold/blue.

Hole 17-348ft. par 3: Tunnel vision. This hole features a straight shot. Gold tee from the 6X12 concrete slab. Blue tee is 50 ft. in front of gold. red tee is 70 ft. in front of blue.

Hole 18-501ft. par 3: Throw it there and it will go. The Field of Screams (Ant Farm reference #2, hole 3 AF) does not play OB. One of the more difficult par 3's on the course and as far as I know it has never been birdied. A Shaniac sandwich bounty to the first person who successfully turns a birdie on this hole unassisted!<--(Gold and blue tees only). Gold tee is the 6X12 concrete slab. The blue tee is 80 ft. in front of gold. Red tee is 80 ft. in front of blue.

No, girls that play at the Mose really use any other tees, unless they play open...
and I guarantee you/we will miss out on some female DG action if this is all we are offering them.
Leslie is very interested in playing in this tournament but will not play from blue pads.
There arms (REC-WOMEN) just can't get the distance to score well from the blues.
So, why would they waste their $?

Taken directly from the PDGA site:

The scores thrown by propagators each round are used to calculate the SSA rating for a specific course layout. A propagator is a current member whose rating is over 799 and is based on at least 8 rounds. As long as there are 5 propagators playing a course layout, ratings can be calculated.

Definetly. I had allready decided that for the women could decide on what layout they would prefer. I choose the blues only for the intention that you would receive round ratings. But as you prefer once again.

So far no, but reading from above posts it looks like Leslie (JPZ's wife) is itching to play, and I've also heard from at least one other person who says that his wife might play as well.

Hole 15 will be moved. The collar was run over (thanks kids for removing the PVC pipe that was marking it) and Wade and I are planning on fixing it tomorrow. I might also move 7 as well. I like 7 in both spots but I think I am partial to the short pin placement.

Just to butt in on the ratings, even though it won't calculate unofficial ratings, the ratings guys at the PDGA will come up with a number for you...granted they probably will be conservatively low compared to a properly created rating but you will get them.

5 propagators are needed for unofficial ratings. 3 propagators will still be needed for official ratings in a one day, two round event.

Been receiving a lot of phone calls from people wanting to sign up on the day of. More than glad to have you come out and play but I really would prefer if you plan on playing that you do so by signing up online. This is for your and my convience. That way you will be fully aware that you're in the tournament by way of the current PDGA players list and not by taking a chance and signing up early on the day of. Add in the fact that I willl be better prepared to serve you when you do check in it makes everyones life a little bit easier. And I am all about making my life easier.

So once again I'm glad to have you even if it is not known that you will be there untill the day of but if you can please do me this favor.

Hey everybody,

I'm new to Atlanta and although I have been playing disc golf for many years I have never done competitive play (save for one unsanctioned tournament when I was 12). I am excited to play in this tournament next weekend, I even went out there today to play the course. I only got the front nine done because I ran out of time, didn't know it would take so long to get out there. That course has some really long holes! Anyway, I have some questions.

Is there a rough estimate of ending time?
Assuming we would be playing in flights, are they mixed divisions, or do you only play with people you are competing against?
Will anyone be playing in Halloween costumes?

Also, I played Lenora Park a couple weeks ago and got a -1 score. Woot! What other courses in the Atlanta area are some of your personal favorites?

Georgia’s M&M Halloween Disc Golf Weekend

I hope all of you can make to one or even better, both of Georgia’s Halloween’s M&M disc golf tourneys.

• The Monty’s, Middle Georgia Championship I: Rise of the Chupacabra, October 31st

The Briar Valley Horror will make a small bag of M&M’s a part of the players package and I’ll bring whatever left of the M&M’s to The Monty the following day.

Both courses are looking great and the weather should be excellent for both tourneys.

I would like to use it for registration of the day of... makes check in much easier!

Well prepared, and receiving multiple phone calls, PM's and e-mails from people who say their going to be there this Saturday. And why not? Beautiful weather, light wind and no chance of rain. Did I mention that everyone who plays in the BVH receives a players pack? Add in the fact that Amazon Forrest Cafe has some excellent lunch choices available at excellent prices and we have a receipe for a great disc golf day!

-7:45-8:45am
-Players Meeting: 9:00am sharp!
-Round One Tee Time: 9:20am sharp!
-Lunch:Immediately after the completion of the first round (1 hour approx)
-Round Two Tee Time:TBD (1.0 hour for lunch remains after last card is turned in)
-Awards Cermony: Approx. 30 mins after last card is turned in for round two.


Layout:

-Pro, Advanced, and Intermediate fields will play all Gold Tees except for Black 13 during first round followed by 6X12 concrete tees in the second ropund
-All Rec divisions will play Blue's
-Novice/Juniors will play Red's
-Women can play from their choice of tee

JP Moseley Park:

You are OB if you are surrounded by water in any of the creeks that make their way throughout the course.

The walking paths play as creeks. Completely surrounded by asphalt is OB.
Exceptions to that rule are tee #’s 9 (gold), 11 (gold) and 13 (black)

Hole by Hole:

Hole 1-636ft. par 4: Going over or on the walking path to the right of the hole is OB. The gold tee is by the utility shed in between the football and baseball fields. Blue tee is the 6X12 concrete slab. red tee is approx. 50 ft. in front of blue.

Hole 2-189ft. par 3: Quite possibly the easiest hole on the course. Multiple routes. All tees are on the 6X12 concrete slab.

Hole 3-298ft. par 3:: Remeniscent of hole #12 at the Ant farm, except in this case there is a more defined route. Hit the line and it will consistently yeild a par or better. Gold and Blue tees are on the 6X12 concrete slab. Red tee is approx. 60 ft. in front of gold/blue.

Hole 4- 276ft. par 3: Quite possibly the most difficult of the woods holes a sidearm or left handed shot might be your best bet. Going over or on the walking path to the right of the hole is OB. Par here is a great score allthough a birdie can be had here as well. Gold tee is the 6X12 concrete slab. The blue tee is 60 ft. ahead of the gold. red tee is 40 ft. in front of red.

Hole 5-260ft. par 3: An intimidating shot off the tee. Hit the straight line and you should be golden. Gold tee is down the path behind the 6x12 concrete slab on the 5X10 concrete slab. Blue and red tees are on the 6X12 concrete slab.

Hole 6- 251ft. par 3; An anhyzer if there ever was such a one. Be right of the two trees that are split on the left hand side of the fairway to set up the par/birdie run. Gold and blue tees are on the 6X12 concrete slab. The red tee is 40 ft. in front of gold/blue.

Hole 7-330ft. par 3: Stay in the fairway! the basket is approx. 300ft. downhill and then to the right just inside the the treeline. No OB on this hole. The gold tee is on the 6X12 concrete slab. the blue tee is 75ft. in front of gold. The red tee is 70 ft. in front of blue.

Hole 8-940ft. par 5: The first of the par 5's. This hole features three distinct landing zones. Of all the shots that you could throw on this hole the most important is your drive. Avoid the Frog Pond located just before the small clumps of trees 250 ft. off the gold tee. Completely surounded by rocks while being inside the frog pond is OB <--If you are touching any one of the border rocks you are in bounds! Surrounded by asphalt on the walking path is OB. Surrounded by water in either of the two creeks is OB. Going on or beyond the walking path behind 8's basket is OB. Gold tee is on the 6X12 concrete slab by the sun shelter approx. 200 ft. to the right of 7's pin. Blue tee is just to the right of the frog pond (150 ft. behind 7's pin). Red tee is approx. 175 ft. in front of blue tee.

Hole 9-956ft. par 5: Your second par 5 of the day features a Mando that must be passed to the right of in order to complete the hole (The Mando is approx. 450 ft. in front of gold tee) . The gold teepad is on the walking path where the path goes over the creek. The Blue tee is the 6X12 concrete slab. The red tee is 100 ft. in front of blue. There is a drop zone marked by flags for those throws that miss the mando. The large sewer cap is 256 ft. from the pin. Frog pond#2 (approx 100-120 ft. short of pin) is marked by rocks and plays OB if you are completely surrounded by the rocks that mark the pond <--If you are touching any of the border rocks that mark the frog pond you are in bounds! Walking path also plays as a creek-completely surrounded by asphalt is OB (excluding tee). Going over the silt fence is not OB. On or exceeding the walking path behind the pin is OB.

Hole 10-443ft. par 3 : Double mando off of tee (gold). Automatic re-tee for missing mando's. On or over walking path is OB. The gold tee is the 6X12 concrete slab. The blue tee is 70 ft. in front of the gold. the red tee is 50 ft. in front of the blue.

Hole11-308ft. par3: Island hole (Skull Island) You are OB if you do not land on the green that is surrounded by rocks. If you are touching a rock you are in bounds! If your drive touches a rock but then proceeds to not rest on the green or on a rock marking the boundary of the green you are OB, proceed to drop zone. To fully qualify it must meet the following criteria: on the green surrounded by rocks; coming to rest on one of the boundary rocks. For missed drives: proceed to the drop zone with a 1 stroke penalty. Missed shots from the drop zone will incur one stroke penalties untill a successful green shot has been completed. Gold tee is on the walking path near the bench. Blue tee is the 6X12 concrete slab. The red tee is approx. 80 ft. in front of blue.

Hole 12-501ft. par 3: On or over walking path is OB. Gold tee is on the 6X12 concrete slab. the blue tee is 80 ft. in front of gold. The red tee is 80 ft. in front of blue.

Hole 13-1082ft. par 5: Over the fence on the right hand side is OB. Over the creek (behind the basket) is OB. In the creek surrounded by water is OB. Surrounded by asphalt is OB. On or exceeding the walking path by 9's teepad is OB. The black tee on the walking path at the top of the hill that is nearly parallel to blue's tee. Landing in 12's fairway is not OB. Blue tee is on the 6X12 concrete slab. Red tee is approx. 200 ft. in front of blue on the left hand side of the fairway.

Hole 14-308 ft. par3: This hole features a split fairway. There is no OB on this hole. Gold and blue tee from the 6X12 concrete slab.

Hole 15-285 ft. par 3: Straight then slight hyzer. Gold and blue tee from the concrete slab. Red tee is approx. 80 ft. in front of gold/blue.

Hole 16-259ft. par 3: This hole also features several options for reaching the basket. There is no OB on this hole. Gold and blue tee from the 6X12 concrete slab. red tee is 50 ft. in front of gold/blue.

Hole 17-348ft. par 3: Tunnel vision. This hole features a straight shot. Gold tee from the 6X12 concrete slab. Blue tee is 50 ft. in front of gold. red tee is 70 ft. in front of blue.

Hole 18-501ft. par 3: Throw it there and it will go. The Field of Screams (Ant Farm reference #2, hole 3 AF) does not play OB. One of the more difficult par 3's on the course and as far as I know it has never been birdied. A Shaniac sandwich bounty to the first person who successfully turns a birdie on this hole unassisted!<--(Gold and blue tees only). Gold tee is the 6X12 concrete slab. The blue tee is 80 ft. in front of gold. Red tee is 80 ft. in front of blue.

- Noped happened during lunch. LOL. Enjoyed the tournament regardless of having to walk the course 4 times. Thanks for starting us on Hole 12 twice. Loved it!

Scores updated...but not offcial. It appears one of the layouts might be coming in at par 60 instead of par 61. Should be fixed when I send in the TD report.

As for scores and %-I went by the payouts suggested in the TD report. 45-50% respectively for all divisions. If you had cared to play for more the Open division is always looking for fresh blood. 50% payout is the norm for most AM payouts with many tournaments opting to forgo payouts completely and instead issue disc vouchers equaled to the players entrance fee. Add in the fact that C-Tier's are not required to hand out players packages to any of their players, everyone received something extra for nothing who played in the BVH.

Ive Birdied 12 from a good 80+ with Jpz as a witness With "that damn Black disc" as he would say.Just not on game day flirted with it in the first round though.
