There's a ton going on for the VO (Virginia Open) this year:

Sunday, May 17th - Virginia Open - Amateur Event - B Tier

Tuesday, May 19th - Sunnyside Open - 2 Rounds of the Sunnyside - C Tier
Wednesday, May 20th - Loriella Open - 2 Rounds at Loriella - C Tier
Thursday, May 21st - Darkside Open - 2 Rounds of the Darkside - C - Tier

Friday, May 22nd - Possible Pro Doubles
Saturday, May 23rd and Sunday, May 24th - Virginia Open - Pro Only - A Tier
Monday, May 25th - Grange Monthly

Keep watching if you wish to go and i'll get the dates for signups as soon as possible.
Last year with ams and pros together it sold out in 3 hours(180 spots).

Being separate weekends may delay it some, but not by much, as adding the midweek Events means that the ams will be there all week and probably play both weekends.

Played The Grange last year on the way back from the W. Virginia Open..... those courses are sweet!!! Tiki-golf 24hrs a day (just don't play and bet with Ritger)!!!, the mini course looked sweet too!! Pulled a muscle in my arm on the Darkside (4 holes in) but still attempted to play the rest, very painful and many bad shots!

The courses are perfect!! There will be bands, and lots of camping, and fun & games!! The owners of the property are really nice.

I am doing my best to make it this one this year!!!!!

The Virginia Open is an amazing event that doubles as a great big party as well. Everyone camps on site, and the festivities range from a barn full of free arcades to live music. To steal Dollar's observation, the grange is like the disney land of disc golf. Mini course, tiki course, two kick-ass regular courses, pool, hot tub, made-to-order food, and an endless supply of mountain hippies to share the good times with you. Check it out!

Latest info sent last night.

Being a sponsor, Bryan has told me I can send him ANYONES entry as long as it postmarked by the 14th, and they are Guaranteed to be in to whichever Events they choose for the week.
If anyone wishes to play, I need CASH or a check at Wills dubs or ERP dubs this week or you are on your own to get in starting on the 22nd at 10 AM.

The rest of this email covers items intended for attendees of the Virginia Open
as well as anyone with plans to visit The Grange between May 15th and May 25th.

As I'm sure everyone has noticed it has done nothing but rain recently.
Although we hope that it let's up and starts to dry out soon the effects of the
rain we've received so far will still be with us when tournament time arrives.
The ground at the courses is saturated and likely to be soft when you arrive no
matter the weather between now and then. I urge everyone that plans to attend
to hook up with someone else that's attending and carpool. The more cars we can
keep from trafficking over the Grange grounds the better it will be for
everyone.

Other things that are vitally important to consider as you plan your trip are:

- Follow any direction you are given when you arrive at the course (even if it
puts you somewhere other than where you planned to be)

- If you arrive at the course when someone is not immediately available to guide
you to your spot, park in a logical temporary spot and seek someone out to guide
you to your final destination

- Plan ahead to stay put as much as possible once you get here.

- If you have to travel in and out of the Grange for supplies please try to
coordinate with other visitors to reduce the number of trips.

- Bring appropriate outerwear for wet weather.

- Use common sense when moving your vehicle especially if there's any chance of
spinning your tires. Before tearing up the ground ask for help.

- If you have any issues with any of the facilities (clogged toilet for example)
do not ignore it. Please bring it to the attention of tournament staff.

- Respect your fellow campers.
- - No music, yelling, door slamming, etc. at the campsites at night
- - Do not bring your profanity to The Grange
- - No open fires
- - Contain your garbage
- - Please recycle (bins available)
- - DO NOT throw your cigarette butts on the ground. Ever.
- - Carry around a cup instead of a glass bottle.
- - The camping area near the neighbors is a quite area at all times
- - Socializing under the big tent is preferred to the campsites.

Dollar and Hammock were on the lead card after the first round but Nate Krahn blistered the Darkside with a -9 in the 2nd to take the lead by 1 over Michael Jo. Hammock is still on the lead card but $ is top of the second.

ITS BACK!!

And expanded - got word today that it will be 4 C-Tiers (3 last year)during the week between the 1 day AM Virginia Open and the 2 day PRO Virginia Open A-Tier last week of MAY.

4 C-tiers will be at Loriella, PRATT, Sunnyside and Darkside. Both of the Virginia Open Events will be at the GRANGE.

Last year TEN ATL golfers played in all or most of the Events during the week!

Anyone interested in going, please let me know in this thread preferably, or by PM and I'll start a list, so that when signup starts I can get everyone in like last year.

I'll post exact schedule for 2010 when I get it,

In an Epic Fail, The Mountain Disc Golf Experience tourny is scheduled for the same weekend as The Grange Open. No 3x Champ, No Urban Skins for this guy

I can't miss 4 CTiers, 1 B, and 1 ATier for one really really really sweet CTier.

Just back from Vegas and the Memorial and I have received an E-mail with:

NEW INFO - and I'm sorry to be blunt, but with the next 2 weekends being spent getting the course ready and running the CRUCIBLE, and then the last weekend of March playing in the National Tour Event in Ocala, FL - I'm going to set a PERSONAL deadline of MARCH 21st at 5PM for people PM'ing or calling me to let me know of your FOR SURE - NOT DROPPING OUT interest - as I'll be writitng a check to Bryan so that it arrives by the deadline for sponsors to reserve spots. Payment must be received by me by MARCH 26th or I will be letting Bryan know of that spot becoming available so I can get a refund of the amount paid in to him.

PLEASE pass this info along to your friends who might be interested but do not frequent the message board as I am not going to be responsible for feeling at fault if they missed out if the deadline passes. There is still a SLIGHT chance if any spots are left on the 27th that they could register personally at the website posted in the info below.

I am still waiting on a response about my camper. I told them I would feed the Grange staff one night or sponsor a hole and still nobody has returned an email. Oh well, the camper will be with me whether I get to use it or not, and I will have a lot of BBQ too. :lol:

Congrats to Vach for his 2 weekday wins - Hammock for winning Masters with the same score as Open (playing opposite courses same days)as well as 3rd in tiki golf behind Dollar -Plotky for his 2 1000 rated rounds getting him 3rd in GM - Dollar for coming in 2nd in about everything PDGA and side action and cashing in all events but 1, and Matlack for being second in Survival golf.

Can't wait until next year!

was the layout different at all this year i noticed the par was different on the pdga site and not set as par 54

The only new pin placement we played was on hole 5 on The Sunnyside. They may have been calling it a par 5. I'll put it this way, if this hole where on the Stready Ed course at IDGC, it would be a par 5. If it were on the Jackson course, it would be a par 4.

The Sunnyside had a lot less shule off the fairways than before. However, the wooded holes on both courses have grown in up high in the fairways. A lot of the overhand lines have disappeared.

The Tiki Course is better than ever. Hole ones basket spins and has a tiki mask blocking one side. They have new lights on 4 or 5 baskets.

The only thing that kinda sucked was a new Egyptian Rooster that started sounding off around 4am everyday. The rooster is pretty badd A other than that. He still lets Ross the duck hang out with the chickens.

The schedule will be:

B-Tier - The Grange Open Amateur Championship - May 22nd
C-Tier - The Pratt Open - May 23rd
C-Tier - The Sunnyside Championship - May 24th
C-Tier - The Loriella Open - May 25th
C-Tier - The Darkside Championship - May 26th
A-Tier - The Grange Open - Pro - May 28th and 29th

C tier - $25 - all divisions (pro and am)
B tier - $50 - am only
A tier - $100 - pro only

There will not be a registration opening day tournament as before.
I plan on opening registration next Monday.

I will need to know from Dollar & Rachel, Matlack, Vach, Wookie, & Plotky which Events listed above you will be playing - I got this E-mail while I was gone to Vegas & The Memorial and I told him to throw everyone in everything for now so no one gets shut out - as you can see tomorrow is opening of registration.
Please let me know which Events you REALLY will be playing so I can send him the proper amount.

I will need to know for sure by the end of next week (MARCH 13th) with payment to me by the end of GSSS #2 (MARCH 26th)

Congrats to Dollar - who has been tied for 1st, 3rd and came in first today at the TUES, WED, and THURS Event of the week long extravangza in Virginia.

Congrats also to Jon (not John) Plotky who has come in 2nd in Grandmasters at all 3 Events so far.

Matlack, and Vach have also cashed (I'm assuming since they are in top 1/3) on TUES and Vach again on THURS.

Rachel has played 2 of the 3 Events solo, but will face at least 4 other ladies in the A-Tier this weekend with everyones ratings between 884 and 921, so it's anyones game with 4 rounds and all the ancillary Events that go on at the best complete Disc Golf Complex in the country.

Good luck to Everyone this weekend - I very much wish I had started my retiment AFTER this Event, as it's the first time since 1999 I have missed playing there - and missing all the comraderie, friends and Deanne cookies REALLY SUCK!. :cry:

Just received - NO PDGA this year but still alot of Golf!

Welcome to the new Climate.

Time to get out and play some disc golf.

The March and April monthlies will be on March 31st and April 1st.

Registration for the perennial Two Days in May will open up at the March monthly.

Online registration opens up April 2nd.

This year we have scaled back from 11 days to 6 with the festivities starting Wednesday May 23rd.

This years Main Event, the 2012 Two Days in May will be a non PDGA sanctioned 2 day 4 round Pro/Am event.

The cost will be $80 for pros and $40 for ams.

They are going back to all PDGA Events and ADDING MORE Events - there is now 1 EVERY DAY for 8 of 9 days with survival, mini, distance and putting championships on the "off" day. :mrgreen:

Seems like I picked a bad year to only play 6 total Events as I could have played 5 Events on 6 courses in 6 days during the same week here........
