2012 Wednesday League @ Perkerson

*League play runs 3/14/2012 – end of DST in October
*This is an organized pickup game, you don't need to signup, just showup. All skill levels welcome, no experience needed.
*Try to arrive 15 minutes before the advertised start time to checkin/register -- meet at the picnic table near the practice basket (old hole 7)
*We will have an end of season playoff through the month of October. Stay tuned for more info on that.

Action:
*Straight up, one division singles
*Action .... there are 2 options depending on how competitive you want to be. Players will be grouped accordingly:

2 = Competitive = $10 (includes $5 game action, (4) $1 CTPS, $1 Ace/Eagle fund).

Start Times:
5:20pm check in, 5:30pm start. Check the posts towards the bottom of the thread for the most up-to-date information on times.

Course:
Perkerson finally has permanent baskets in the ground. We will be playing the new, permanent layout this year, which means no fabric baskets. The first week we will play 13 of the new holes, and will gradually make our way up to all 18 as daylight allows and the remaining 5 holes are cleared out.

Next week (3/14) is the first Wednesday Perkerson action of the year, and the first EVER on the new layout!
We will only be playing 14 holes.

Pick 'em at 5:20, tee off at 5:30. Meet at the picnic table by the practice basket (old hole 7). Try and be there on time, and post on here if you're planning to come and might be late.

Buy in is $1 course fund, $1 ace/eagle fund, 3 $1 CTPs, and $5 of action. There is another optional $5 of BONUS action if you're feelin' lucky.

Light turnout last week. Saw plenty of people on the course, but only a handful played the organized action. We played a 14-hole par 47 layout, and GT Chris took it with a 48.

We'll be back out tomorrow night, and we had plenty of daylight so sign-up is pushed back to 5:45, pick-em at 5:50. We will only be playing 14 holes, in order to finish before dark and because the last few holes aren't finished yet. Speaking of which, check this out if you want to help out with the installation. The more hours we log out there, the sooner the course is finished.

Action is on for tomorrow night. We've split hole 3 into two holes, and hole 10 has been shortened to a par 3. We will be debuting those two new holes as well as the long tee on hole 1.

Some good singles competition out there this week. We played a 14 hole par-46 layout with the resurrection of 18 (old 13) as a par 5!

GT Chris won with a 42, with Nick & Nate tied at 44. CTPs went to Nick x2, Nate, and Josh.

Great turnout with 13 people playing organized and at least another group of 3 spotted playing casual. We now have 15 playable holes, and should have 18 playable holes very soon (walking course with arborist to approve clearing on 3 remaining holes tomorrow). There is bad poision ivy in spots and the course is rough all around, so I recommend long socks or pants if you are playing.

I think these scores are correct, but it's from memory. This is a 16-hole, par 51 layout.
1st - Ritger - 46 (-5)
2nd - Woody - 47 (-4)
3rd - GT Chris - 50 (-1)

Obviously playing a bit easy so we'll work on making it more difficult.

Yes, but the practice basket isn't installed at the practice basket location right now. Tables are right by the two bridges, and by hole #1 teepad. Park @ gravel lot and walk downstream 300'

Hey john - I see you guys are making serious progress on the new design/ permanent status of the course which is amazing. I'll be down in july and look forward to playing or working on it if that is still needed. I wanted to see if you still had any medium perkerson polos for sale. I signed up to play worlds and need polos and would like to advertise your course.

also, i know its a little late, but maybe for next year, here is the link for those bagtags we use in socal:

they are cattletags. the one thing to ask is that they include keychains on em, since they usually don't etc. But they're only about a buck each, numbered, and you can put other text on there too.

10 people tonight. Had our first taste of vandalism, which was not unexpected, with 4 of the baskets having been stripped of their chains ... presumably to sell as scrap. These will be replaced when we figure out how to better reinforce the chains (weak s-hook, anybody with a good idea hit me up!). In the meantime, park those drives on #8-11.

That certain someone is going to help. That literally is the weakest point in these baskets, and I think it can be addressed by replacing and beefing up the s-hooks. Now I will be surprised if they are able to steal a whole basket, that would be problematic.

5 league players ... but tons of casual players ... at least 5 other groups out playing. @ Matt R, I found your cell phone and have it with me.

I can finally say it and mean it ... the course is coming along. It's very close to turning the corner of not only being fully playable but even enjoyable ... and isn't that far away from being groomed. Lots of tweaking left but it's really taking shape. If you haven't made it out yet, come down this Sunday for workday/doubles
