*League play runs 3/17/2010 – 8/25/2010
*Course will be setup every Wednesday @ ~5pm 3/17/10 – last week in October 2010
We're taking the stats online this year via discgolfscene.com -- http://www.discgolfscene.com/leagues/Wednesday_Weekly_Singles--Daylight_Savings_2010

*24 weeks of League Play with Handicapped Playoff Series during the month of September
*One division singles. Only playoffs are handicapped.
*Must play 8 weeks to be eligible for playoffs
*Playoffs will be lowest 2-round handicapped score during 5 weeks in September (need 2 good rounds to cash)

Action:
*Straight up, one division singles, 18 holes
*$1 per player fee to play, feeds handicap playoff fund (as do 10% of CTP $$)….the $1 fee is mandatory for anyone playing on Wednesday as part of the organized action – this gets you score tracking & use of baskets even if you can’t do the playoffs.
*Action = $5; option of "bonus action" for $5 more. $5 in optional CTPs. $1 ace/eagle fund.
*Add this up for me Ritger, I can’t handle the math .... to play = minimum $1, maximum $17

Start Times:
March: Signin by 5pm, Pick’em 5:10, Tee-off 5:15
April: Gradually pushing back to 5:30 start

Going to start with short pads the 1st few weeks until we get more daylight … so we’ll be playing full 18 hole course from the start.

Rules:
1 - Playoffs will apply handicaps to your score; so for Justin's handicap of 3.5, if he shoots a 52 it will be a (52+3.5)=55.5.
2 - Handicaps are set at above and will not change
3 - Must have 2 rounds minimum that "count" to qualify for payout (there are 5 weeks in Sept). This means that you could say you are done after 2 good rounds in the 1st 2 weeks. .... E.g.: I shoot 2 good rounds in weeks 1 & 2, then decide that I'll "keep" my good score and not have any further rounds count. I can still play for regular action, but my playoff score is set unless i decide *prior to teeing off* that i need to count another round to improve my score. So it will pay to shoot well early, but you can keep trying to make your score better ... just don't shoot bad because it will count.

I also cannot wait to start playing Perk every week again. It's been almost a month since the Ice Bowl, which is a very long time when the course is 5 minutes from my house. I was just there today, but it's not quite as fun when there aren't any baskets.

Ace fund is kicking with dividends!!

We (John and I) decided that the eagle fund will be capped at $100, and any amount of money after that is directed back into the fund.

An "Ace" is the only one to clear the fund out of it's money.

I just didn't feel it was a good idea to have an eagle clear the fund completely (ok, I did my "nice-guy" act for the season).
Not sure of the exact amount, but I'm thinking it's around $40 still in the Ace/Eagle fund

I was curious how you guys would take to newcomers coming and playing this late in the game? I played in the Rec division at the January Pandaemonium (with Wade, if I recall) and shot terribly, but had tons of fun.

With school winding down, I now have the time to come out and play during the week! I am really, really terrible (as you can see by my abysmal scores @ Chamblee on my DGScene page), but I'd love to get another chance to play Perkerson again.

In all seriousness this is a round with high quality competition combined with a laid back atmosphere. Anyone is welcome to join! Just be prepared (as I always am) to get your butt kicked because I think Perkerson is where baggers go to die.

Come on out. It's a 2 tiered event .... there is a group that plays competitively for $$ and a group that plays casually for fun, and we group everyone accordingly. It's called a league but it's more like a pick-up league ... there are differently people there every week.

You won't get pitted against the adv/pro players unless you want to, but you are welcome to pay for that privilege if you'd like ($5 = cheap lessons!). Bring a basket if you have one.

Actually, not correct. Handicaps was calculated using both layouts. Score just has to be adjusted to par 61.

The course is "there" all the time. You can play it whenever you want. However the baskets are only there when local golfers (Ritger, Woody, Josh, myself and others) bring theirs out and set them up. The league isn't a tournament in the sense that you're thinking. It's closer to a fun casual round. Just show up for one of the dates and you'll see what it's like.

There won't be anyone or any baskets there tomorrow. League wouldn't start until March 16th (after DST begins) this year. If you just want to check out the course though, get a map here and you can recognize most of the teepads as the worn patches of dirt.

Sounds like we've got people interested so March 16th it is! League is used loosely, its more like an organized pickup game with a league component for those interested. It's definitely a great place to learn or to grow your game as the course is challenging and there is a very competitive part that you can participate in, or not -- and we'll try our best to group everyone accordingly so beginners won't be matched against pros, etc. And bring a portable basket if you have one.

If anyone has ideas on how we should run action this year feel free to suggest, nothing is set yet.

Yeah..... I would be on the right. Sorry for your confusion. Randy, Kindof a weird post in response to mine but whatever... Brings back memories of showing up for a week of summer camp as a kid and being listed in the girls cabin


I use the term "League" or "tournament" loosely. I am just interested in playing with some regulars that don't take it too seriously and could teach a relative newbie a few things. So the Wednesday group seems like it might be a good place to start. I'll try to check it out in March.




On a side note has anyone ever thought about doing a temp coarse like this at Freedom Park. Maybe it is too busy, not enough terrain variety/trees but I think it might make a good coarse? Any thoughts? Maybe that is a discussion to start elsewhere but I don't know where.

If there is interest I wouldn't be opposed to holding some Wednesday-style action out there on a weekend. And by Wednesday-style, I mean no flags or signs or roped OB. Setting up just the baskets takes about an hour, less with help.
