Wednesday Singles League 2009-- Meet in the lower gravel parking lot near hole 1.

This is a temporary course that we setup each week -- we need lots of portable baskets - if you're coming, bring as many as possible, we won't turn away anything that catches a disc.

Times thru June 2009:
18 holes, par 63
Signin @ 5:00 - 5:25pm
Pick groups @ 5:30pm
Teeoff by 5:40pm

Here's how the weekly league is gonna work
*1st thing -- ALL action is optional. Since this is the only time the course is setup, anyone may play for free....check in and have your stats tracked....most of this regards the optional competitive side action
*Base action = $11 Recession Pricing (reaching out to the UDGC) = $5 action + 5x$1 CTP. $1 + 10% of CTPs goes toward end of season handicap playoffs.
*$1 (each) ace & eagle fund...$200 cap...xtra stokes the playoff/course fund.
*$5 added tier of optional action for sausage panther & the other high rollers
*League runs from Wed March 18th - last Wed in August (24 weeks).
*To qualify for the playoffs in September, you must play in 33% of the weekly events (at least

*Only paid action rounds count toward the 8 rounds
*I'll be taking ~10% of the pay-in to stoke the playoff pot, so expecting $400+ based on last year. $11 in the 1st week.

Playoffs -- month of September:
*There are 5 weeks in September. You must play in at least 3 events in September to be eligible for any $$ in the playoff.
*This will be a handicapped event -- so whoever shoots the best compared to their normal level of play.
*I will apply a handicap to the average of your best 3 rounds in September....based on all qualifying rounds adjusted for outliers.
*Payout is per usual %'s.

I have never played this course, but am wondering if there is any new information about the course being cleared and set up?? I know it has been temp and there have been several fund raisers for it. I am just wonering is all. I more then likely missed it or have yet read the thread about it.

It is an ongoing battle of "who to meet/know".
The parks are getting tons of funding cuts and some are even closing down certain programs. We also have to get the community involved and for the most part, they are.
All in all..... there are lots of red tape and it is better to have everything nailed down before going to propose the final layout/plan.

busy at work after being out of town....gotta delay the start by one week.

so -- 1st weekly singles setup will be next wednesday, 3/18/09

josh hit it on the head....the city of ATL is really hurting, adding to the red tape as the parks dept is only working 4 days a week and are concerned about their jobs & managing what they've already got....i.e. they're not in the position to add new features to parks. the recreation centers have all been shut down already in addition to public bathrooms. the fundraisers have netted ~$500 so far and paid off all the inventory of discs (there are tons left btw). also i've been busy and haven't had time to put together the proposal yet.

rain looks like it'll be gone by midday, so game on. not cancelling any more unless it's actually heavy rain; weak forecast last week.

i will likely not make it as I'm heading to new orleans thurs evening & might have to work tomorrow evening.....but woody's got my 6 portables and will be there by 5pm. josh, can u run the action if i don't make it?

also - a guy from idaho is going to play & needs a ride from marta ~4:30pm. i told him we'd be able to find a ride from oakland city station -- it's only 1 mile from perkerson (directions from the park) can anyone pick him up?

Tocobaga was BEAUTIFUL. 18 you shoot right towards the ocean. The basket was only feet from the washed up conch shells! Sweet!

If anyone can get out early tomorrow, I'm thinking we can knock out most of the OB setup for the USDGC qualifier. Need to put OB string along the creek that's in play on 14/16/17 and behind the basket on 12.

I'll be there by 3:30...any help is much appreciated.

I can bring 3 maybe 4 (depending if it'll fit) baskets. If we can get nine baskets I say we do it. Just play nine twice. It won't count for the year-end tourney, but we can also try out new stuff.

Thanks to the Gentlemen who set up the course last nite - some is surely better than none!! Especially when I plan my weeks around the Perk!
General question... we played 16 from up on the street yesterday (not sure if this is an actual tee but further back and to the left of original tee up by a big tree close to the road and where there is a break in the rocks lining the road). I was just curious as to how long this hole would be from that tee pad, I had a hell of a drive...

Additionally, I lost my orange Orion LS in the nastiness of 14 - but found Clunk's Halloween Destroyer and returned it - my number is the Orion, if anyone finds it I would greatly appreciate the return.

just go out, have fun and hope it doesn't rain.... but bring an umbrella in case.

Justin said he wants to play out there today so I'd guess that he wouldn't mind taking care of the wet baskets.

last week before playoffs begin. i stop tracking handicaps after today; they will not change throughout the playoffs.

to rehash how the playoffs work ... there are 5 weeks in september ... payout will be based on the average of your best 3 handicapped rounds (best 2 rounds if any of the september weeks get rained out). so if you play 5 weeks, you can drop 2 .... if you play 2 weeks, you're ineligible. i think the pot is ~$400 ... paying ~40%. normal side action during playoffs.

Looks like we're in for great weather again at Perkerson!! Forecast = 85* high, parltly cloudy. Come on out even if you didn't qualify for the handicapped end of season thingy .... we still are running regular action!!

I'll add a disc for for an extra CTP!!! (This will replace the End of Year $1 & keep the buy-in the same) How about a Glow CFR Destroyer w/ pink stamp (175g max weight) !!??!! Super stable long range bomber!!
We'll also have a bonus CTP for free.... "Mystery CTP" for everyone, even if you don't buy-in..... Wayne's World style shcwing!!!

Tell all your friends about it!! or don't..... then they won't be able to win a free CTP, which would not be cool on your part

Don't forget to thank Ritger for putting so much of his time into Perkerson Park!

thoughts on # of holes we can squeeze in? 10 minutes of daylight lost since last week, and its gonna be cloudy & dark
option 1 = play 18 holes, but short par 3 positions on #11 (from edge of tennis courts) & #14 (from top of hill)
option 2 = play 16 holes -- no 2 & 3

5pm SHARP pick'em. if we get all 3'somes, playing 18 holes, same as last week...if not either dropping #5 or #2 & #3. 11 & 14 short again.

I'll payout playoff $$ tomorrow or can send a check if you are in the $$ and don't make it.

today's layout = playing 18 holes but only 3 par 4's ... par 57.

changes:
short 2 tee, same basket - we'll pick a tee spot & flag it.
short 3 basket (just across rd), same tee
5 = usual par 4
short 9 tee, same basket -- tee by fireplace, long par 3
10 = usual par 4
11 = short tee, like last 2 weeks
13 = play as par 4 - short tee, we'll pick a spot & flag it
14 = short tee, like last 2 weeks

i think if we start @ 5 we've got time to play this, maybe for the next 2 weeks.....thoughts?

How about we abolish the CTP's and still pay the same price??? That way when the winning teams split the money, they actually win a decent amount.

Hole 13: How about we use the regular tee area and place the basket at the last fireplace area, near the bench that leans back ? Or... we could tee from the first drain or next to the creek, just before the group of trees on the left side??? (might cause a problem with discs not making over the creek area, but would be a really trick shot!!)

All the other ideas sound great!

re: CTPS .... how 'bout fewer CTPs and bigger payout. good to have some with doubles so all is not lost if teams get stacked....

Last week's layout did work pretty well. I say if we do that same format again that we should tee off from the top of the hill on #7 for one of the rounds. Its been a while and all of the kudzu is dead. Either way, I'll be out with Justin and 2 other guys and I think we've got 3-4 baskets between us
