2011 Ace Race

Anyone think we could pull off an Ace Race? Maybe at McCurry or Village Green?

We'd have to come up with some nice ace runs at McCurry. Most Ace Race holes are 180-250. When would be the best time to do it? Has to happen in August, September or October. A weekend obviously. I'm thinking October would greatly reduce the number of other park users but I don't want to step on the toes of Barry's tournament. Thoughts?

Oh heck yes! Village Green would be easier hole wise, but it'd get really crowded, really fast. McCurry all the way for me. It'd be fun to look for alt. ace race tees on all the holes.

I was thinking I was going to have to go to Valdosta, Augusta, or maybe Oregon Park to do an Ace Race. I'm willing to help out in any way if you need me.

Date wise there are tourneys at the IDGC on the weekends of Sept. 23-25 and Oct. 15-16 and I'm going to try and make it to one of those so I vote not those weekends

I'm thinking late September to early October will be the best. We could avoid most of the picnic crowd then and we could avoid the charge to rent the park. I'm thinking I should go look for some sponsors to help cover the costs of the player packages but I'm not sure. Each package is $18. Entry for each player is $25. I'm thinking we can use the money to get the county to build a bridge for hole 8 and possibly put some benches in. Thoughts?

Sponsor ideas: PIAS, T&G Allsports, Fayette Sporting Goods, some place to donate water? (Kroger, Publix, ...), Chick-fil-A (they're always involved in the community it seems)

A bridge for hole 8 and benches sounds awesome. Maybe some "Next Tee" signs too?

We have close to 20 people signed up via the Facebook page and email. The sooner I get payments, the sooner I can get the player packs ordered.

In reading about other AR's, it seems that 150 ft is the max and that the most aces are coming from 90-120 ft. Might have to rethink some of my holes.

19 people signed up on Facebook and about 10 others outside of Facebook. I only have 12 prepayments so far. Thanks to Steve for agreeing to help w/ the funds to get the player's packs. Al at PIAS has agreed to donate a gift card as a prize as well as Rick providing a gift card to his restaurant, The French Market. I'm going to order the discs on Monday. I might have them at Dubs the week prior to the Ace Race so we may get a trial run.

Got the player's packs today. Almost all green and pink. A few red and blacks in there. Saw weights from 170-183.
