Grand opening of the ten new woods holes at Sandy Creek Park in Athens. January 19. Play for free. Hot dogs and beverages free. Great addition to the course. Some of you played half of them this past summer at the USDGC qualifier. Now, all but one (9) will have concrete tee pads. The new #13 has decking with a no slip coating. Check it out!

Played the new holes today. You know the course rocks. Too bad you're so far away. So nice to have such a kickass home course.

to bad there was an ice bowl yesterday for Charity. and it was farther for me to drive there rather than to Athens.

I played this course for the first time on Saturday. Very good course. One of the best in the outer Atlanta area. Absolutely worth the drive.

Played Sandy Creek for the 1st time this past weekend. This course ROCKS even though I hit every tree in the woods. IMO - the wooded holes are quite difficult from the Blue Tees but you can vent your frustrations by bombing away at the open holes. Definitely will go back!!

Can anyone tell me if the course drains well? I am planning on playing tuesday, but I don't think I have ever played here after a soaking rain. What conditions should I expect? Looking forward to it no matter what. One of my favorite courses for sure.

Slingshot,
The open holes will be fine, and, the majority of the woods holes will be OK.
Hole #23 (the bowl hole) will probably be the worst.

Course was in good shape yesterday. The lake was flooded pretty bad. Water was all the way up to the bench by hole 11 (left pin). My DX flat top ROC managed to crawl in to the lake to the left of the bench. :cry:

When it drains it should show up near the edge of where the shore should be. Hole 21 was a bit muddy in the bowl but other than that it was great. Got to walk the "proposed" 4 new holes, which once finished will complete 27, and they look very nice. All in all a great day of disc golf, followed by $2 pints at CopperCreek.
