Lenora is great, except holes 1 and 18......

What are the chances of changing up holes 1 and 18 at Lenora?

-Could Hole 1 be stretched out?
-Could Hole 18 be moved along side 11's fairway throwing into the woods perhaps using hole 2's extra basket?
-Could Hole 11's pad be moved to the right and made into an slight anny shot with the trees in play?

I like Lenora and I understand that "it is what it is" but those minor adjustments would really change the overall course in my opinion. Hole 1 is a putter shot in an open field and then hole 18 is an uphill shot in an open field with a bad teepad.

We've talked about a couple of trees on hole 1. Something mature and placed to the left and right of the basket, 2/3 the way to the pin... no movement on that yet. Making it longer would just change your quote to say "mid" instead of "putter".

I don't see how 18 would work into the woods without interfering with 2, 11 and maybe even 5.

Moving teepads in Gwinnett is not something that the parks are willing to talk about at the moment. They basically told us to stop asking about anything that involves changing existing pads.

We do have some plans for Lenora in the long term. Catch me for a round so I can get an idea of what you mean for 18...

Why not just add alternate pads? And who is to say that they need to all sorts of official anyways. I know Lenora has some good safari golf shots. I know I have personally thrown from 3's teepad to hole 1 and from up by the barn to hole 1.

Holes 1 and 18 would be easy to alter.

I refer you to my earlier response. Lengthening hole 1 would not make it better. Your idea for 18 would require moving 2 tee pads and that is not something we can do right now.

Trees on hole one IS something that would improve it and is something the GDGO can do and is planning.

On a personal note, I like 18 because it's a tricky 2 for me, but at least I have a shot at shaving a stroke at the end of the round, where at Alex my scoring separation is done by then. Different skill levels feel differently, I'm sure.

So I'm assuming Corndawg shoot -36 every time he plays Lenora. That's why he needs it to be more challenging? Good for you! I think it's a nice mix and a bit too well settled in to start making changes at this stage in it's life. IMHO as you kids nowadays type in your thinkie phones.

I went to play Lenora on Sunday and still found it to be good. The alternate pin positions on a few of the holes are nice (although everything was in original positions). There is a lot of safari golf out there and honestly no one should just be limited to throwing the same pads to the same holes. If you are looking to make the course more difficult to play then I would start by planting some trees.

All in all it is still a good course.

LOL ( Laugh Out Loud, Grease) Lenora is a great course and yes I double ace every Lenora hole quite often in the same round. I enjoy Lenora and applaud Gwinnett County for keeping it, and Alex, looking pristine. It was a mere suggestion is all, of course safari golf at Lenora is a fun option.


As large as Gwinnett County is, it needs a true adv/pro course with some(challenging) length or tough wooded holes in my opinion. Alex and Lenora are great but 36 down is unacceptable.

-36 at Lenora is like a 55, I think. We really need to change the course par on the signs. I think the pars might have been for SuperDuper class, which are made from old Chrysler hubcaps.

It's been awhile since I played Lenora, but last time I was there it was an 18 hole course and nothing that I would consider beyond par 3. I guess it's changed in the last few years?
